  1. I joined some time ago on the hunt for a Clio, and now that I got a Clio and fully registered in NSW, thought I might as well throw in a newbie post. Since six weeks old, I had been diagnosed with Haemophilia; a rare bleeding disorder that prevented my blood from proper clotting without treatment. Most of my life has been within the walls of the hospital and with many bruises and bleeds all throughout my body. There's so much that's happened during my first 14 years that its pretty much impossible to list it in this one post (You'll be able to read it all in the link at the bottom to our website). So you might think then, that I would have picked up a passion for something calm and less intense. Instead, I found the most entertaining discipline of motorsports, and I've been a fan since the age of 7/9 (Can't remember exactly oops😆). It started with the odd Wii or PS3 racing game, then eventually moving to a Logitech G27 steering wheel on Gran Turismo 5 (Btw nice to see this forum had a GT5 Nurburgring leaderboard going once upon a time 😀). I slowly learned the basics of driving every day after school, almost all self taught, from trying to skid in an AE86 to figuring out the heel-toe in a 600hp R34. By 2016, I moved over to the PC and got into more advanced racing and into a range of racing leagues on Assetto Corsa, and eventually I was actually finding myself fighting near the front of the field! This was all while at the risk of bleeds and being admitted to hospital on an average of every two weeks. The next couple years would see me working my way through high school and learning the dark art of motorsports through simracing, videos, articles and lots more, hoping one day I could work in this field as a driver and/or engineer. By 2018, I had gone onto a study trial of a drug called Hemlibra, and since then my treatment for Haemophilia had never been more effective. This is what opened the doors for me to finally enter what I loved for real. October 2018 would mark my very first taste of motorsport, when I completed Level 1 and 2 of the Riccardo’s Racers program in my first ever time driving, and setting the fastest motokhana time in (of all things) mum’s Mazda 3! An effort she luckily approved of very much, considering the great amount of knowledge and experience I got from the program. A year later, I would be completing Level 3 of the program at Luddenham Raceway, again going tremendously well, but also still in the Mazda 3. With mum considering what my next couple years could look like, it was time to address the elephant in the room (somewhat literally considering the weight 😄), hence the introduction of our own 2010 Renault Sport Clio Cup Trophee. 70,000km on the clock, equipped with the cup chassis, Recaro seats and much more. Overall I’ve really enjoyed it and I haven’t even gotten into the driver’s seat yet! Sticks to the road real nice, cup suspension keeps the car really nice and flat. Not all perfect initially as it had the pesky crack in the exhaust manifold, but now all good and welded up by Renotech. Next up to do is is strut top mounts, either down the route of OE replacement or adjustable tops. Then some point after that, pads will need changing and potentially front discs, so again an option between straight replace or upgrade. Cloth Recaros also have the signature hole in the base and the wheel has gone somewhat melty, so we'll need to find someone to fix those things too at some point. But overall I'm really enjoying this car so far! I'm learning a lot from my parents about owning, researching and managing every little bit about this car, and over time I hope it can really help me make my first steps towards independent driving and make the transition from virtual racing to reality. (This is my story that summarises my life with Haemophilia from birth until now, in much more detail than what is described in this post. It can be read here: https://www.theredtrail.org/stories/jaydens-life-before-and-after-hemlibra/)

  2. Hi all, have been on here for a few months since purchasing my last car, a Clio 197, which I purchased as a stop gap until I found the right Clio 200 or Megane 250/265 (not easy these days). While I certainly enjoyed the 197 but never really loved it and found myself was always wanting a 200 or a Megane. I found this Clio 200 for sale in Queensland, looked like a great example, instantly put a deposit on it unseen and just received it yesterday. It's a White Clio Gordini, 56,000kms, akrapovic exhaust, OZ racing wheels, new tyres and just had a major service. It drives like new car and I'm now so happy to have sold the 197 and made the upgrade. Keen to attend some drives/ track days when they come up to get the best out of it! Will take some decent pics soon, but these are all I have for now. Also it doesn't have the Gordini stripes, if anyone knows where I can source these from please let me know, would be much appreciated. Paul

  5. Hey gang, After lurking and posting for the past few years, seriously looking for a Clio RS for the past 18 months, personal issues blocking purchases, and then even finding the ONE, missing out on it but then it came back around....I FINALLY got the one I wanted. It was love at first sight and lust at first drive! Very low km A&D, Akra system, KTR intake, KTR engine mounts, lowered, swaybars and strut brace, and it did have a harness bar and harnesses which have come out for the time being. MAP holder arriving, new boots tomorrow and then some window tint.

  6. Hi All! Wesley here, long time lurker on OZRS from when I was trying to help my partner find a R27 F1 Team back in 2016 (ended up with a 6 speed 06 Cooper S instead) to now a proud owner of a Capsicum Red Clio 182 Trophy. I'm a Sydneysider now residing in the UK, hence the purchase :). I've been hooked on Renaults since driving a couple Megane RS, one at the nurburgring and one at the great ocean road. My mate, a big renault fanatic, has been planting the seed for a while from riding shotgun in his mint sunset yellow phase 1 172 to driving his recent 182. I've had a string of cars from a WRX STI to a JDM Toyota Altezza RS200 to a BMW 130i to a DC5 Integra Type R and now the Trophy. I look forward to meeting more members in the future!

  8. Hello all, Having recently moved to the country I had to purchase a car, Ive owned Clio's previously in England with the mk1 1.2, mk1 1.8 and then a Titanium 182. I thoroughly enjoyed the 182 and really wanted another. I figured that I wont be doing many miles for work and so the car will be for mainly weekend fun drives and the odd commute. So the search began, I was surprised at the lack of European cars and especially the sheer lack of 182's there were. However this made finding one even more special as I could tell that the gentleman who I bought mine from was a fellow enthusiast and had taken good care of it. It had only done 8000 km in the past four years and currently sits on 158,000. I am not entirely sure if it is Mondial or Artic Blue and can't figure out how to tell. Ill put a couple of pictures up here but more in the media section. I'm currently Melbourne in the east. I used to belong to an owners club in the UK and always found it a great place for info and for fellow enthusiasts to meet so am glad that I found this forum. Happy to answer any questions and I hope you enjoy the car. Here it is as i bought it: Here is how it looks now: I have only changed a few things - Silvervision indicator bulbs, team heko wind deflectors, removed the RS badge from the front grill, new Renault Sport badge at the back to replace the clio and a black Renault badge at the front. I also have the front splitter on order from Skoda for the mk1 Fabia - this is considerably cheaper than the original renualt one which was quoted as $534.80 delivered from France whereas Skoda was $38.50. Since these pictures I have cleaned up the front lights, darkened the trim all round and also polished the exhaust. I want to put some yellow tint on the fog lights and see if I can source the Speedline Alloys from the 172 cup/Trophy but they seem to be like hens teeth unless you have them shipped over. Heres some close ups of the blue to see if you can figure it out: finally heres the old cars:

  9. Hey guys - new Megane RS 280 owner! Wanted to join to see what other Aussie Renault Owners get up to in terms of mods & drive days. Loving the Megane RS 280 after coming out of an Amarok for work. Owned a 2014 Polo 77tsi previously and is great being back in a quick hatch (tad faster than the Polo hey). Manual late 2018 model, got the rims painted and loving the Titanium Grey. Tempted to get an aftermarket exhaust done soon, on the cards. Anyone aware of any ECU reflashes available in Aus too? Couple of snaps this morning from a cruise up Mount Glorious. 4 wheel steer is insane. Jacob 🙌🏼

  10. Hi folks, newbie here with what is my first French car, the 182 Cup, in Melbourne. My background is in Japanese stuff - Datsuns and Mazdas. My brother had a 504 which had a driving position that immediately triggered a memory when sitting in the Clio! However, I'm more of a fan of value-for-money, and Euro stuff simply offers a better proposition these days. I am late 30s M with no kids, work in Automotive and just wanted something to offer cheap thrills without having to worry too much. As per my WTB ad, I recently flew up to Sydney and drove this car home. It performed perfectly, and was a joy to drive. In fact, nearing Melbourne I took a detour to take the long way home so I could drive it some more!! If that doesn't say I bought the right car I dont know what does. This thing is therapy!!! Yes I bought quite a nice example with low kms, for me, I just want something I can jump into and enjoy without headaches. Gradually I hope to improve and amplify its character. For now, I've got a lot of cleaning up and inspecting to do. It's had the belts done recently so thats good, but keen to hear from the brains trust here on best first fixes/modifications. My thoughts: 1. Steering - seems a bit tired, need to check CV joints etc. 2. Suspension - it's fantastic out of the box and I'm keen to get to know the car more first, but down the track, is there any consensus for options in AU? 3. Wheels - From what I read it seems 15x7 +35 is the go for the road, is that right? I see Turinis and 2118s are the standard, but will RPF1 fit? I saw something saying they dont clear front brakes? 4. Gearbox - again just seems like its a bit loose after 18 years. Has anyone got experience with https://www.pure-motorsport.co.uk/racing-precision-gear-linkage-kit-clio-2-rs.html ? 5. Rear hatch struts - mine are on the way out, is there a common aftermarket option to replace these? 7700842256 Some piccies from the drive home (6.8l/100km WOW):

  11. So after picking her back up from her date with @FredV6 on Friday, where she had a new cam belt / water pump, as well as front right wheel bearing, engine and torque mounts and a new set of sparks (should have seen the old ones), I hit Mt Nebo yesterday with my son. Fitting that it was father's day and that the last time he and I drove a manual Clio up the mountain, he was 9 months old and sitting in a car seat in the centre rear seat so he could watch out the windscreen. That was back in 2002 and yesterday I drove up and he drove down... Pushing a high revving, manual Clio that sticks as flat and solid as she does all the way out to Mount Glorious and back is really as simple and as fun as it gets. My automatic, V8 loving son now gets it too. Thanks @FredV6 for getting her back on track!

  12. Hi all, First time frenchie owner here after a long line of pretty varied JDM cars and currently an I30N (which I still have). Managed to pick up a pretty clean Clio 172 after years of wanting one and it doesn't disappoint. That lightweight feel and N/A induction roar/response is so addictive! 2002, 119kms with a well documented service history and well kept paintwork/interior - I was hard pressed to find something in this condition in Melbourne! It drives and feels pretty tight but does have the following niggles: - Slightly loose (rocking) drivers seat - is the fix as simple as tightening up the mounting bolts or do the seat mounts end up with excessive play after 20+ years? - The previous owner changed the top mounts, but there are some clunking noises at low speed when turning the steering wheel. I was advised the new mounts need bedding in. Is this a thing or has the install gone wrong? My plan is to keep it fairly OEM+ and enjoy it for what it is, hoping to use it as a weekender and blast it through the hills. I've done the whole track car thing and hate the compromises that come with building a car that is too focused! An aftermarket intake, some wheels and swapping out the steering wheel are probably the first things on the list, but at the moment just loving it bone stock! Looking forward to hopefully meeting some fellow owners along the way. JC

  13. Hello, Graham here. Rejoined because I lost my old email address. Have had my (main bitch) Megane F1 since 2009 after purchasing it from a friends work mate who was going to trade it on a BMW, he was offered 16k for it at the time when they were still selling for high 20's. Plan was polish it up and flick it off but after a couple of weeks of driving it I feel in love and the rest is history. 12 years later I must have spent well over 100k on it in various states of tune or disrepair. It has spent most of its time with me as a competition car, mainly tarmac rally and a bit or boring round and round track stuff. I have just retired its tarmac set up where it was fast enough to be the fastest 2WD car on Tarmac stages on our last rally. Hope to be a bit more active on here and am happy to help with any Megane II questions as I now realise I have replaced nearly every nut, bolt, sensor, clip and major part on a Megane II. Have also tested most performance parts available and had a few levels of tune so know what works... and hundreds of tyres. I have also had two Clio's, one non RS with a few enhancements and one RS in Europe, and a few more Megane's including the fist Megane 3 RS in NZ. I currently drive a stock yellow R26 a few days a week with near 200,000km on the odometer. Great to see an active club still going!

  14. Hey there, thought it was time to at least say g'day. Picked up my 197 late last year and absolutely love it to bits. Already got a lot of good info from searching this and other forums, tonnes of great knowledge out there so thank you. Looking forward to getting out to some meetings, cruises and track days. Never been on a track in my life and seriously looking forward to testing the limits of the Mk3, although more likely the limitations to be found will be my own rather than the car haha. Anyway it's been a long time between performance cars for me and I'm new to Renault in general but I can really see why people like them so much, the brand does seem to have a bit of a bad wrap out there, maybe just in terms of the general euro vibe of expensive parts etc coupled with the French factor, but I say anyone who knocks a Renault Sport has never really driven one. One drive will change your mind. Besides all that I kinda enjoy the exclusivity, compared to some other makes which seem to be a very common sighting. My own story is that my girlfriend actually has a 225, I didn't realise what she had at first but didn't take long to start putting things together and realised that her Meg is a genuine performance machine! anyway, we went for a picnic date up Mt. Nebo one day and she let me drive it back down, mistake! haha. One drive and I was hooked, I spent a lot of time trying to find something (anything) that could rival the Megane for a similar price point and I couldn't find anything, at least nothing that suited my taste, not without spending several thousands more and that just wasn't an option for me. A few months later and this 197 popped up on CarSales and how could I refuse, even though it made no financial sense to be getting a new car during a pandemic I made it happen and I've been in love ever since. I've had the cam belt done and I've just got a couple little bits to iron out before I'd happily give it a proper hard drive around a track but that hopefully won't be too long now. Picture is from the day I picked her up, took the long way home over Mount Glorious and through Mount Nebo.... Must do that again soon!

  15. HI all, New to the world of renault, just picked up a 2014 275 Trophy, liquid yellow and great condition. This is a 2nd car to compliment my '94 range rover classic, which is more practical for the kids but not always reliable, now I have the RS which is less practical but pretty reliable, to take up the slack and stop me getting in trouble with the boss for having to take her car! I live in Samford, Brisbane so have Mt Nebo / Mt Glorious on my door step so can enjoy the handling regularly. Test drove a mk6 Golf R and the trophy was far more engaging. I used to own a 135i, Manual, stage 2 tune (246kw at the wheels) which was faster but boring unless at licence losing speeds. The plan is to leave the Trophy stock (see above comment re unreliable range rover), keen for weekend drives etc if anyone in the area organises anything. Cheers, Dave

  19. Well after over 6 years I am finally back in the Ozrenaultsport family! Not so much a newbie but newly returned. Although I haven't had a Renault Sport vehicle for over 6 years I have never forgotten them. A couple of months ago I finally decided to come back. I was lucky enough to find a 182 Cup owned by a fellow forum member that I'm sure some of you will recognise. The body isn't perfect but underneath is a solid base with some nice goodies fitted. The vehicle already had AST coilovers, Whiteline rear sway bar, K-Tec intake, Pure Motorsport shifter and some braided brake lines. In the short time I have owned the 182 I have added K-Tec/Vibratechnics engine and gearbox mounts, K-Tec/Vibratechnics dog bone, Brembo HC slotted front rotors and PBS Pro Race brake pads with Puretrack titanium backing plates, genuine rear Renault brake rotors/wheel bearings and PBS Pro Track brake pads, PBS brake fluid, fitted the supplied OMP rear strut brace, fitted rear tow hook and fire extinguisher, removed the old window tint, and lastly set up the interior for quick harness installation when visiting the race track. For the track I also have a set of 15x7 wheels with 195/50R15 Dunlop DZ03G tyres. Anyway, super pumped to be back and look forward to getting back on the track with some like minded people.

  20. Let me be the boring voice of reason. Assuming you've not had it long, just enjoy it for a bit, grow into it and wait and see what you want to do. Gives you the chance to decide for yourself what's effective from what's fashionable. If its got average tyres on it now that'd be step one. Res delete is also valid if not done already for more noise without drone.

  22. Morning all First post. I've just bought Safetymans beautiful 197-keeping the name Lucy. Amazing car, obviously been cherished and he was a lovely guy to deal with-very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about RS's. Car is as tight as a drum and looks great on the Megane grey wheels. Loved it so much driving home I thought 'mmm-maybe I should daily it' but really want to keep the klms down and in it's current condition. Unfortunately they beg to be driven-conundrum. Then I remembered-what about the 200 Trophy for sale with 55klms, some cosmetic issues and needing belts etc? Spoke to the guy-another really nice bloke. Clearly not an enthusiast like you dudes but owned from new with receipts for servicing etc. Went to look at it yesterday and it drove fantastically well. He'd really gone overboard on the cosmetic issues and the fundamental car's gem. Bought it-$6k-cheap enough to get the belts done and deal with a couple of cosmetic issues-won't worry about some of them. So-now got Lucy and Gareth (naming him after previous owner) tucked up in the garage ready to enjoy-one daily, the little lady on Sundays! We're up in the Hunter-some great driving roads up here. Be great to meet some of you for a drive day up here!

  23. Greetings, Literally just bought this car https://www.autotrader.com.au/car/10577478/renault/megane/nsw/warwick-farm/hatchback 😁 Picking it up in 10 days or so - I have to drive from Melbourne to Sydney to do the trade-in, but it'll be worth it ! I'm an ex-Pommie and have always been a fan of the fast Frenchies. Looked at the 308 GTi, but the dash and steering wheel was all wrong for me. Jumped into a Megane 280 and felt immediately at home. Can't wait to collect the thing. Hopefully I'll post some pics in the next few weeks. Yes it's stock, yes it's grey, but IT'S MINE....MINE..... mwah ha ha ha

  24. Came to say hey hey Bought this machine earlier this year after my previous car was written off due to a collision. After carefully considering the market options, I became hooked for a Megane III RS so I set out for one. Ended up finding this nice example in my perfect combo (Pre-facelift, Grey, Cup+) from a top notch owner in Victoria. Paid for an interstate inspection (shout out to State Roads), flew down to make the deal, and drove it up for its new life in NSW. Funny story: Since rego cannot be transferred interstate, previous owner kept the plates and I drove up some 900km with nothing but a piece of paper (UVP permit). Didn't get pulled over once by highway patrol even though many had definitely spotted me. 1km out from home, I get pulled over by local PD... Anyways I work nights so I'm mostly buzzing around the western burbs under moonlight, but look forward to hitting up cruises tacking onto the RS train... CHOO CHOO pic of the car on registration day:

  25. So last weekend I bought a RS265 RB7 from Sydney, flew over and drove it back. Was a little freaky driving all along the plains with the floodwaters only a few mill below the road, but no issues. It's not the best example out there, but a decent price, and I don't mind having a few things to fix in slow time. Plan for now is just to sort out some issues with it and some TLC. Cruise Control, A/C compressor and the door handle for start, and in the meantime go carve up a few windy roads. Anyone who's lived in Adelaide or has spent a bit of time here knows how many fun roads there are to choose from!

  26. As a new guy so what to say ?,well oil grease & swearing was all part of my childhood as my father was a mechanic & grandfather a chauffeur for decades carting various lord mayors of Sydney around. My "pop" used to bring home these huge & fantastic black & chrome Buick & Cadillac tanks & as a 5yo they were like Disneyland & just irresistible play grounds. So I have always had a passion for cars from a very early age,& over the years picked up a few I feel "interesting" cars to fill my garage & much to the dislike of my wife any other available space around the house too. I retired some years back & have kept busy doing the usual thing around the house & occasionally going for country drives with other "car crazies" looking for a few corners. In the past few years I put my mind to saving a 07 Renault 225, 03 Audi S3 both neglected by their owners from the wreckers for both my sons & a low klm 03 Golf Gti that had a light "front-ender" as my run around. My reasons for joining Oz Rs I enjoy the sharing of knowledge & seeing what others are doing, then a few weeks ago or much thought bought another Renault project a "sad & tired little thing" a 02 172rs that I'm in the process of fixing up & saving from the wreckers or worse a "P plater" . As I go through the process of servicing/replacing the worn suspension, brakes, tyres & any other components that are required as they"crop up" I hope to find the answers to questions I have about this car on this forum & end up with a nice little hot hatch to enjoy till the environmental movement finally get ICE banned,it hopefully won't happen for "historic vehicles" or be for many years yet. But once electric vehicles become "the norm" I feel by then I'll probably be ready to hand in my license anyway, but till then I will enjoy what I have, thanks for reading .

  28. Hey guys, After lurking here for a few months, I recently bought a 2011 RS250 Monaco GP (no. 205). Really enjoying it so far and it feels like a suitable upgrade in power and handling from my old Honda Integra Type S. The only mod on it at the moment are some Bilstein coilovers which definitely improve cornering and aesthetics. The previous owner also sold me some Rota Titan-Fs wrapped with Yokohama AD08Rs which I've been told are awesome on track. I'd like to get the resonator removed soon to hear a bit more action from the exhaust. I'm liking the OZRS community so far and hopefully I can meet some of you in person once covid restrictions are less strict. Enjoy the pic taken near Jervis Bay! Chris

  35. Well I'm not quite sure what I've got myself into here!?! I've just acquired a 182 FF as my son is approaching 17 and I feel he needs to start his journey right (which translates to: I needed an excuse to buy another car and he may be able to borrow it.....). Coincidentally, the car dates from June 2005, which is when he was born. I've just realised that I haven't had a pokey FWD since the 80's (Mini GTs and an XR2) so will be keen to experience this again - although the capabilities will be significantly better (car, not driver!!). Anyway, I'll be probably looking at some new wheels (current wheels have kerb-rash) and new tyres, so will be happy to hear recommends in respect of both. Should be picking the car up in a week for the long drive home.............

  36. My Renault plans include: 1. A daily driver - tossing up Megane / Volvo C30 (Focus ST underneath!) / WRX 2. A dauphine race car with either a 2000cc NA or a 1200cc turbo (classed as 2000cc) to run in IPRA. They are super light and I recon I can make a decent race car out of one. VW sand rail/drag guys have decent transmission and swing axle options - if anyone knows of a decent shell please let me know. 37. Hey everyone, after months of searching I've finally bought myself a RS265. It was only up on carsales for a day before I went to see it, it was seriously immaculate so I bought it then and there. Has only 36k and had been serviced including the timing belt done by Renotech. My last 'fun' cars were a S15 Silvia and twin turbo Supra - wish I kept them as they'd be worth a bunch right now, but the Meg's been a blast to drive so far. Not sure what my plans are...it has an upgraded Focal amp + speaker system so that's taken care of, open to suggestions for other mods! Here's a few pics of my previous cars and the RS265.

  39. I just picked up a new RS300 Trophy, on Friday. I haven't driven it too far yet, given the circumstances. Still playing around withe all the settings in the R-Link -2 , still trying to find the RS Monitor software.... my most recent car were tuned VAG products, so its a bit of a change, looking forward to some track days, once its been run in.

  40. Dear Members, Hello, As I write I have yet to collect my brand new 2019 Megane RS Cup Auto in white. I am very excited to be owning my first Renualt. I am very keen to learn more about this product from owners and hope to add my thoughts and feedback over time. I have owned a VW Golf GTD which I enjoyed but never a real sports hatch. It was close and the new Hyundai i30 Fastback N almost had me but, I kept coming back to the Megane after watching many reviews and taking a demo for good drive. Anyhow. Hello, and I'll see you in the Threads. Safe Roads Lloyd.

  41. Title says it all. Knew very little about the Megane, until a good mate got a 250. Head was very quickly turned and I decided that I had to have a 265. Picked this one up a fortnight ago, and haven't regretted it for a second. Nice drive from Albury to Melbourne to properly acquaint myself with the car after buying

  43. And just like that, I’m now a proud owner of an RS250 trophy. Went and looked at a couple, favourite colour was grey but this blue one was mechanically sound and maintained very well by the owner. Too good to pass up. Need to take some good photos ASAP, res delete and then pretty much enjoy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
