s9810588 Posted 1, June 2016 Report Share Posted 1, June 2016 R.S.01s did you say? More than one car? I've been to Australian GT races at Phillip Island for the past four years but never made it to Bathurst. Maybe 2017 is the year!

shlonga86 Posted 1, June 2016 Report Share Posted 1, June 2016 Not wanting to be party pooper, but the RS01 is not eligible to compete in AusGT or B12hr (in 2016, at least).http://docs.cams.com.au/Manual/SportingRegulations/2016/2016%20CAMS%20Australian%20GT%20Championship%20List%20of%20Eligible%20Automobiles%20-%20Issue%204.pdf http://www.bathurst12hour.com.au/sites/default/files/2016/regs/B12Hr-16-List-of-eligible-automobiles-as-25-1-16.pdf

Michael Posted 1, June 2016 Report Share Posted 1, June 2016 I thought that homologation for GT and GT3 was based on road going vehicles. Is there a road going version of the 01S?
RenaultSportGT Posted 2, June 2016 Author Report Share Posted 2, June 2016 Thanks for the support guys.Re homologation: Stéphane Ratel's people have homologated the car globally for GT3 with a balance of performance kit that only adds approx. €11k to the cost of the car. It's eligibility for the 12 Hour and Australian GT has been confirmed by the organisers of both.Steve Sutcliffe offers perhaps the best explanation of the performance here (and why it needed to be detuned to be GT3 eligible).
ataraxia Posted 2, June 2016 Report Share Posted 2, June 2016 Wow! whats the car like vs others and why did you choose the RS01?
RenaultSportGT Posted 2, June 2016 Author Report Share Posted 2, June 2016 (edited) @junior:We haven't pushed the button on the RS01s yet as we're waiting to hear if Renault Australia will support the program, but it's the car we'd most like to run for a few reasons. Firstly they're built at the Dallara factory to Renault Sport's specs and Dallara have forgotten more about building winning race cars than most other companies will ever know. Secondly, they have a Renault badge on them and everyone from Alain Prost to Jean Ragnotti has been involved. Who doesn't want to beat Ferraris and McLarens in something with a Renault badge? Lastly, GT3 is changing quickly and the cars are now engineered from the outset as pure competition machines. We believe the RS01 is the most competitive chassis and the engine has already proven itself in the Bathurst 12 Hour in the Nismo GTR. RenaultSportGT Posted 2, June 2016 Author Report Share Posted 2, June 2016 This explains the level of technology compared to an average GT3 car very well. Downgrading to GT3 performance involved engine restriction, steel brakes (instead of the factory carbon ceramics), and reduced downforce.

Aussierb8 Posted 10, June 2016 Report Share Posted 10, June 2016 So does this mean you have now pushed the button? I am booking holidays flights and accommodation if you have. If your suggestion of laps of Bathurst for RS cars comes off I am going to book a truck berth across the Nullarbor for my car as well This is getting exciting
RenaultSportGT Posted 10, June 2016 Author Report Share Posted 10, June 2016 Don't do any of that just yet mate. I'll do what I can but I'd wait until you see something on Renault Australia letterhead before you part with any hard-earned.
