Meet Serena - A new Black RS 225 Cup now living in Melbourne

Just a couple of images from the day she arrived.

It's the first time I've ever named a car (apologies) but I've called her Serena as she is black and has a big ass! Appropriate I think.

Bought it in QLD and will pop some VIC Euro plates on soon.

Also plan a visit to ParisAuto for the Green IK; then in a few thousand k's an exhaust and perhaps popping it on the dyno for an ECU re-map!

I've come from a Mini Cooper S and although I'm not meant to go beyond 4000rpm I can feel it's got so much more punch.

Things I love most are: the grey wheels with matching mirror trims; the red brake calipers; the room in the boot; having back doors...

Look forward to being a regular contributor.

Best

Harry

Hey mate welcome to the forum, looks great in black (hard to keep clean I know).

There is a discussion going about running in and EVO feels that you don't have to as long as you don't cane it all the time. It's in the 255 section I think, I post so much I can't remember, anyway enjoy the car it looks mint.

Nice Nice nice ..... I really like it in black. But after owning 3 black cars cant do it anymore ... it used to drive me crazy to keep clean.

Also really like the red calipers ..... it must be standard now ... Nice one. :D

That looks horn!

I'm really loving the new 225 Cups... ALOT! Torro Red is sooooooooo my favourite colour though.

Still, that black does look very stealth. Have fun with her

Cheers,

Steve

Thankyou all for your kind words and encouragement.

I'll definitely give it some stick next time I'm behind the wheel. And might see some of you Vicco Renault guys out on the road.

Best

I'm trying to come up with a good VIC Euro plate.

Format is V XX 000 (where V is a given; X is a letter; and 0 is a number) - V RS 225 is taken!!!

Any ideas welcome...

Thanks in advance.

Best

Harry

How about renaming the car to Venus instead? :)

5 can be 's', but the 'u' will be a problem though :(

hrh, what plate options do u have in Vic ?

My plate is an "historic" white nos on black 50505, you buy them from SAGovt, around $2000 now( I paid $750 approx 7 yrs ago)

You can get pretty much whatever u want here, in variety of colors, costing approx $250 every year, but most of us go for the combination of 6 Letters and numbers eg.CLIO 07,or R 88888, which cost approx $240 once only.

Incidentally, does anyone know much about Historic Reg in Vic?........here ,the car must be at least 30 yrs old, stock original, and in a car club, costs only $128 annual, but your log book only allows u to use it 90 days per year. Think it's much different in Vic

Also, once you're on historic reg, Shannons offer extremely cheap Comprehensive eg $95 pa for $10,000 approx

Welcome to the "Williams" Renault, enjoy

In Vic the CH plates, white on red are a lot cheaper than normal reg, prob around the same as yours, but the system restricts the car to gazetted club events, with some leeway allowed in preparing for club events. Am in the Sunbeam Car Club and people on CH plates need to carry club newsletter with them at all times to prove they are on a club run, extremely restrictive. Not too sure of the detail cos ours has always been on full reg so we can take to the road whenever we want. Believe that a 90 day per year system is under consideration in Vic and may be introduced soon.

Mike, thanks , that's terrific info

I have a mate here who's a member of the Maserati Club in Melbourne, and he has all of his Adelaide cars on Vic Historic plates, and has been urging me to do the same ,because there's little or no check on the originality, and also I don't think they have to be as much as 30 years old . Is that correct?

Btw, what's CH stand for,...... Club Historic I guess ?

Now I suppose you'll really piss me off by telling me you own a Le Mans 24/80 or something????????????

Pete,

I guess this is off topic.

Don't know about age/originality but the onus is totally on the club to support "Classic Historical" registration for individual/ car member and annually to inspect and vouch for safety of the car. Not sure how ur mate participates in Vic events, am sure he would need a Vic garaging address. The scheme is run by AOMC (so details should be on their website) with VicRoads.

Frankly I'd discourage anyone from abusing the scheme, which operates on a high level of trust, as it would only spoil it for the bona fide club members. (enough preaching I can feel a swishattack coming).

The car is not exotic, a 53 Alpine -(Phil Keane in Adelaide has at least one) but is fun.

Sounds like you have a good system in SA.

The vehicle must be 25 years from manufacture, Must be of a safe condition (as deemed by official appointed by club - and willing to risk any possible lawsuit arising therefrom if below "roadworthy") and must only be used to attend club events, have permission from club official, or for "reasonable testing" within a certain distance from home.

Hope you're enjoying her mate!
