Megane RS for first Car: Complete newb status

Hiya all - as the title says, I'm looking to get a Megane RS (2020) for my first car but hesitating on pulling the trigger due to the whole 'servicing cost for Euro cars' spiel.

As it's a relatively new car I haven't had much luck finding owners' experiences with the specific 2020 model so wanted to ask owners on this forum about their maintenance/servicing costs so far, and any pitfalls to look out for

The servicing costs aren’t that different to any other car apart from consumables such as tyres and brakes being more expensive. Also being a Renault they don’t seem to be keeping many parts in stock and require them to be ordered in from overseas. Just keep that in mind if you run into any issues you may be off the road for a while. That’s about all I can say.

As for ownership. A friend of mine has a 2018 Megane rs mk iv and it’s probably the highest mileage one in the country (125,000km) and he hasn’t had any issues with it apart from the occasional software glitch.

If first car means you haven't had any history with insurance, and possibly still on P-plate, insurance premium will dwarf servicing cost. I wouldn't be surprised if yearly comprehensive insurance premium costs over $5,000.

Renault Service centers are a joke. If you are planning to give them the car for schd servicing You will have to keep an eagle eye on their quality of work .

E.g recently back from first service, oil overfilled by half a liter inspite of telling them not to fill past the second dot and it being noted on the jobcard.

Agreed ^^^^^^ - suggest you take your car to one of the specialist RenaultSport workshops mentioned on this forum.

Few questions as per above:

age?

location?

possible budget?

does the name sips mean anything to you?
