Teki04 Posted 18, September 2006 Report Share Posted 18, September 2006 Welcome (not Wlecome ) to the forum Griffyn. Nice to know your the proud owner of the Orange Clio Cup - haven't seen many on here (does this make 3 orange owners?) I'm assuming you purchased the demo from the Melbourne Dealer? It was up on carsales and disappeared not that long ago. Once again congrats, and welcome! Post a picture of both your Renaults together. Cheers, Steven

griffyn Posted 18, September 2006 Author Report Share Posted 18, September 2006 Thanks one and all Yes, it is the one from City Autos (that used to have the CLIOSP plates - now changed) I'm in Carlton, Melb. (and keep seeing a mk1 cup around the area) As requested, a pic of the car: (during a recent trip to Phillip Island)
Teki04 Posted 18, September 2006 Report Share Posted 18, September 2006 Looks good! Thought it might have been the one. Why were the plates changed? I really wish I could have found an orange one when I was purchasing mine - I was told they were all sold.
FIR-26T Posted 18, September 2006 Report Share Posted 18, September 2006 Welcome and hope you enjoy your new wheels.... used to have the CLIOSP plates - now changed WHAT, how dare someone tries to imitate my idea
griffyn Posted 18, September 2006 Author Report Share Posted 18, September 2006 Plates were changed for my plates - MIKEEE - the clio is the third vehicle I've had them on. City Autos were holding on to this one, I paid close to list price for the car when it was a demo, but decided to go with it anyway when I discovered it was one of the last 'new' 182s in Melb. I'm still yet to work out just how many orange ones were brought in by Renault. Anyone here have actual numbers?
Teki04 Posted 18, September 2006 Report Share Posted 18, September 2006 Wasn't it 15 or so? Haha, good luck extracting information from Renault! Yea, it would probably be the last 'new' 182 Cup in Australia... Depends, what was the compliance on it though?
FIR-26T Posted 18, September 2006 Report Share Posted 18, September 2006 Anyone here have actual numbers? NOT enough.... They are pretty rare the numbers wont be known....
Sunbeam Posted 18, September 2006 Report Share Posted 18, September 2006 Welcome Mikeee Good to have another Mike from Melb. Apart from Iceberg Silver (172) ORANGE IS THE COLOUR. Enjoy!
griffyn Posted 18, September 2006 Author Report Share Posted 18, September 2006 Car was complianced Oct 05 and was used as a demo. First reg was early (March?) 06. Just a final Q for the night - my gordini stripes finish on the spoiler. Should they continue onto the bootlid with the little ummm dog-leg? (for want of a better way of describing it) Sorry. Have to disagree with you there Knoche. Wouldn't have had it in any other colour than orange. ...or Black. ...or Silver. ...or Blue. OK. I would have had it in any damn colour it came in. It's just all good.
Teki04 Posted 18, September 2006 Report Share Posted 18, September 2006 I do believe they should finish on the bootlid. But then I haven't spotted another Fanta Clio Cup in person.
GFK Posted 19, September 2006 Report Share Posted 19, September 2006 Mine came with stripes, I saw it 5mins after it arrived from the shipping yard. The stripes should finish on the bootlid with a dogleg. All the orange cars imported into Aus came with those stripes. So yours were probably removed at the original owners request and then aftermarket stripes placed for some reason therafter
GFK Posted 19, September 2006 Report Share Posted 19, September 2006 oh yeah, did you get a front splitter with yours?
griffyn Posted 19, September 2006 Author Report Share Posted 19, September 2006 I don't believe so, but I can't say I've had a really good look at the front. Any pics availiable for reference? The rear spoiler is definately larger, and curves upward, so I assume it is the correct one for the LE.

dank Posted 19, September 2006 Report Share Posted 19, September 2006 picture of splitters picture of rear of stripes alex sorry for the "off-topicness"; I don't think I have found a definitive answer here on whether we can get the splitter from the dealers (mine is Waitara) if our cars didn't come with 1..? walkie86 Posted 19, September 2006 Report Share Posted 19, September 2006 oh and how rude of me WELCOME!!
GFK Posted 19, September 2006 Report Share Posted 19, September 2006 Mine didn't come with one but I walked into the dealer 4 months later, saw one of the back seat of a 182 cup and said "hey that belongs to me". Unbelievably they said okay have it...and we will fit it for free. I was shocked but pleased.

griffyn Posted 19, September 2006 Author Report Share Posted 19, September 2006 Right. I have the correct spoiler. I didn't get a front splitter. Will be making a call about that one. I believe I am missing the finish of the stripes, but actually quite like them finishing on the spoiler, so I'm not complaining =) Thanks all for the help. Oh, and thanks for the welcome walkie. walkie86 Posted 19, September 2006 Report Share Posted 19, September 2006 No worries! I guess as long as the stripes are on the bonnet (over the engine) where they can add the claimed +5hp!!
the_realscott Posted 19, September 2006 Report Share Posted 19, September 2006 Cool, another new melbournite! PS: I like the orange ones, even though they seem to be a bit unpopular!
griffyn Posted 20, September 2006 Author Report Share Posted 20, September 2006 I don't think it's the fact they are unpopular, it's the fact they are rare. It would have taken a fairly confident dealer to take one on to sell. I also know this is off topic, and most/some of you had a meet last week, but would anyone be up for a coffee and/or breakfast meet Sat?
the_realscott Posted 21, September 2006 Report Share Posted 21, September 2006 Lol yeah they are rare, but I've also heard a lot of people say that they dont like the orange or orange/white combo. All those black/blue/silver drivers out there... they dont know what they're talking about rofl
