bblues00 Posted 3, May 2017 Report Share Posted 3, May 2017 Hi All, I've had a ph1 Clio 172 in the past which I regret selling, so have been on the hunt for a replacement since the day I sold it. I found a nice example for a good price, and have just picked up a Clio 3 RS 200. It's with Carl at Virage getting it's timing belt, engine mounts and a few things done before I take ownership. I've been researching removing the rear silencer to get a bit more sound and popping/burbles however I have read that it causes a more pronounced flat spot. From my test drives, I didn't really notice a flat spot. Anyone who has ahd thei silencer removed on a 200 have any feedback on this mod? Thanks,
shifu76 Posted 3, May 2017 Report Share Posted 3, May 2017 Short answer, don't touch anything. The Clio III is highly tuned and sensitive to any modifications. Until recently I had my Clio III perfect, before I sold it to a good friend. Only modification for noise would be the Akrapovic, and K&N panel filter. Otherwise just a remap. The induction noise above 5,000 rpm is fantastic Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk It's not as urgent as a Clio II, but the control and handling are sublime in the Clio III Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
apple3337 Posted 3, May 2017 Report Share Posted 3, May 2017 (edited) Fold down your back seat and remove the boot liner. The sound up near the limiter is something to behold. That is all. Edited 3, May 2017 by apple3337
Treza360 Posted 3, May 2017 Report Share Posted 3, May 2017 (edited) See what you think first of stock. Removing silencer is fine though. Mine “fell” out and I had it like that for around 5 years until I went to current scorpion setup. Silencer delete there is a slight flat spot but only noticeable if in wrong gear (too high). MAP sensor fix (sealant/cable tie) all but eliminates it. Removing the resonator creates a louder and more aggressive exhaust than the akra but there is more rasp. A ktr or scorpion exhaust is louder again. Panel filter is mild increase in induction noise but barely. Ran that setup for a few years until current setup (ktr intake). Basically it's all about how loud/anti social you want to be. Listening to an akra and driving a stock 200 I forgot how civilised they are. Much too quiet and not nearly agro enough for me. For reference bought my car new. Coming up on 7 years of ownership and currently at 97k kms. Daily driven and quite not stock. Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk Short answer, don't touch anything. As mentioned the little monster is already a great package which you may find sufficient, if not you can do as Treza and un-standard your car
bblues00 Posted 4, May 2017 Author Report Share Posted 4, May 2017 Just picked up the car yesterday, handles awesomely. I think I'll leave it standard for a bit, and then see how I go. I'm having troubles pairing my phone via bluetooth, any idea how to do it?

adam976 Posted 5, May 2017 Report Share Posted 5, May 2017 My clio 3 rs won't pair via Bluetooth either. I don't use my phone in the car so doesn't bother me. However, I think a software update from Renault should fix this.
Treza360 Posted 5, May 2017 Report Share Posted 5, May 2017 There is a firmware update available from 2010 or something like that. The only time I ever had issues with Bluetooth was the LinkedIn and Skype apps created a whole bunch of duplicate contacts in my phone and this caused major issues with the head unit where it would crash and restart every few minutes while it tried to load the phone contacts. Obviously can't handle contacts with the same name. Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
shifu76 Posted 6, May 2017 Report Share Posted 6, May 2017 Simple solution to the Bluetooth issue, bin the factory audio! I'm a bit of an audio nut though, you can see my build thread and ipad on dash for the Clio III. BUSGO Posted 7, May 2017 Report Share Posted 7, May 2017 Firstly, congrats on the Clio 3. I had mine for about 4 years and have lost track of it after it was sold to a dealer in Melbourne. Would your's happen to be a black 2010 with rear wing? Secondly, the exhaust is not needing any mods IMO. The suggestion to fold the rear seat if not in use gives ideal sound and if your front speakers are still the stock little ones, you should put in some nice JBLs if you can still find them, but if it is my old car, all four speakers have been replaced already. I had no issues with the bluetooth but I only ever used it to receive calls, not make them.

Sorry, I can't seem to find it.
Marcus36 Posted 15, December 2020 Report Share Posted 15, December 2020 Congrats mate, driving is always fun when youre in a 200. Another tip for you - when using a cable to connect your phone, use a genuine android/apple cable otherwise the cheaper brands dont interface as well.
