Hello All!

My names Adam, I am the proud owner of a 2002 Renault Clio 172 Sport, I saw you guys chatting about this car recently while I was in the process of making the deal :)

This is the original ad which is still active for the specs:

Welcome Adam, I'm sure you will enjoy the forum, nearly all top blokes, and a couple of girls.

Looks like a nice car. Did you get the wheels as part of the deal?

And where's the pic's ..... when your ready of course....

Yep, did my research on the Turini wheels (not a mark on them, 85% rubber in anthracite), and had to work them into the deal, including all the spares :D

I will give her a detail on Monday and post up some better pics for you blokes!

So whens the next track day???? :hyper:

Hi Adam, and welcome aboard!

The previous owner of your car joined us once or twice for drive days many moons ago, and I do remember it as it was the first we saw in VIC with the Turinis (plus some other tasty bits). He wasn't an active member, so even I'd be hard pressed to find any of his few posts as I can't recall his username. What I do remember is that he was very fastidious with the car, so I'm sure you've got yourself a very good example.

As for track days, there are a few now and again, but which state are you in? We may also have one again this year as part of our National Meet, planned for around Sept/Oct at this point.

Im from Doncaster VIC and yes he was very fastidious which is reflected in the condition of the car! Had fully stamped books and he hardly drove it (new kid).

Very happy with the purchase, had to test drive a few lemons before finding this one!

Welcome and congrats on your purchase.

As for events, theres a Rob Roy Hillclimb on the 10th of July. You'd need to join the RCCV and get your CAMS license and fit a fire extinguisher and secondary bonnet restraint.

I also know of the last sprint round at Winton on 3rd July. Believe anyone can enter and you'd just need a AASA license for that. I'd PM 'edgar' for more details with that one. I'm still sitting on the fence as to whether I'll go there or not.

Otherwise, tampered motorsport do almost monthly track days at Winton. So if you ever feel like heading up, make a post and see if anyone else is interested.

Welcome to the community.

That's a very tasty Clio you've got yourself, do join us at Rob Roy - someone's gotta keep Edgar and DanielG on their toes in the sub 2l class!

Welcome to OZRS and congrats on the purchase!

Looks like the carsales ad has already been removed. A little quicker than they were with my car when I bought it.

Thanks everyone for the welcome, I have a fire extinguisher from my old car, so will mount that shortly, will renew my cams license so Rob Roy may be a possibility!

Definitely interested in driving winton.

Ill post pics of my car ASAP

Hey Adam, 26 here and from Donnie as well. Gee. We didn't go to school together did we? I'm a builder and studying the Bachelor of construction management at Deakin Uni and just handed in my thesis on Building Information Modelling and integration of building services so I'm interested in what sort of work you do!

Welcome, and definitely will see you round. I'm I'm the silver Megane 250 with recognizable black euro plates so I'm sure we will cross paths. There's a few of us round these parts now! Peace dude.

quote="Moosey"]Welcome Adam. So how does the RS compare to the GTiR?

Difficult to compare Moosey, although both 4WD, the RS was a little clapped out (university car) and the GTiR was a beast that enjoyed feasting on gearboxes!

RS was a good daily, surprised allot of people as it looks granny spec, poor drivetrain, handled well though.

GTIR had allot of power on understeer around corners, needed better diffs and better suspension setup and would have been more enjoyable.

They are a costly car to maintain, always something wrong, quite painfull on the wallet, 4WD split was better that the liberty, launched harder etc etc :D

Trying to post a pic of the GTIR mid thread but cannot? Pressed img/ preview? Can someone help?

I've got a feeling this is the 172 that Grafico and I striped (black stripes) one afternoon, Silver 172 with Carbon splitter owned by a British guy and in unbeleivable nick, I loved it. Best looking Clio I think I've ever seen.

Sorry, meant the Clio RS :)

Woops, haha, its taking me a while to get used to FWD, especially torque steering in the wet! :) really happy with my purchase, thinking of excuses to go driving!

Next mods, want to do a reflash (who is best to go to?? and Dyno), second gear seems to be a little too laggy down low for my liking, still such a great drive. :)

Seriously Adam, leave them, that is seriously the best looking Clio II I have ever seen. I remember that car now, it had the F1 spoiler as well as being lowered and I remember taking photos of it and using them as my phone background for ages after I helped dame do the stripes. That's a fine pickup bud. Don't remove the stripes (although ultimately your choice)! They really complement the car! Also IIRC it had carbon mirrors, which gave me the idea for painting my 182's mirrors in anthracite :D

Such an awesome 172.

^^^ I like striped Clios, but I'd go for anthracite instead of black, to match the wheels and mirrors 8)

Actually it looked surprisingly good, the 172 had the black headlights, this one had the black CF splitter and mirrors and the black high stop light on the spoiler and it all went together. Very tastefully done.
