Alright guys,

A few of you might already know, but I am moving to Sydney for about 9/10 months on the 30th November. We (my missus & myself) are really excited to be honest, its all coming round really quickly now!

YozzaSport is carrying on, but it might make it a bit easier for shipping parts out to AUS for the next 12 months or so - If anyone is interested - I am also going to try and get a dealer set up over here in Australia for our bits and bobs.

We are going to be living in a little studio in Darlinghurst (apparently its the edge of the red light district) but we don't really care - we're here for Holiday/Good Time/Bit of Work if we can get it. Its only a few minutes from town and a few minutes from Bondi, so we don't really care.

I might be looking for a bit of part time work over in Sydney as well, so if anyone in the RenaultSport specialist side of things needs a sales/marketing/business development bod - give me a nod! I am up to speed on most things RenaultSport.

So do you lot organise piss-ups or do you normally just go out driving? As I am going to certainly be up for piss-ups - without a car however, it will be a bit more difficult on the driving side of things. Do you have any trackday companies over there? You know - who let you hire a car for the day like they do in the UK?

G'day Yozza, that's great news.

I think you will find the Darlinghurst area a great place to live for that period of time. Convenient location (as you mentioned) and certainly an alive atmosphere (in a good way imo)

I think you will find we have a pretty active forum, here in Sydney we currently hold a monthly get together @ the pub, as well as reasonably regularl social drives. A fair few of the boys get down to the track quite often as well.

Regarding dealer establishment, sounds like a fantastic idea! Imo there is definitely a market for high quality aftermarket RS components, and not having to personally import them would be a bonus. Currently our options are somewhat limited (although a few avenues have opened up more of late)

For specific dealers, there are some members of this forum that may well be interested. (I will let them contact you, rather than name them out)

Anyway look forward to shooting the Rsh*te with you over a few beers at one of our meets!

Cheers Cooper.

We are pretty much part animals, so its kind of good in many ways for us.

The pub sounds like a plan  How many circuits are there around Sydney then? Funnily enough, I am not entirely up to speed on them...

Are you having Christmas beers somewhere?

So, So many pubs - especially round that area. :P

Im down @ Philip Island (Australian Moto GP circut) over that period sorry mate.

When do you get into Syd? Im sure it's a good enough excuse for a local meet

How many race circuits are there around Sydney then? How much are trackdays and how much can I pick a cheap car up for?

Mrs says can she come for beers too... ?

I'd be offended if she didn't. Gotta keep them Sydneysiders honest somehow.

Any plans for travel outside of Sydney-town?

Just looking - it would be cheaper to buy one here and to export it... lol

I'm not so sure... lol

9/10 months in Sydney with a few trips to Brisbane where we have some friends, then going to try and do a lap with a trip infield to Ayers Rock and all that jazz.

Thats the plan at the moment.

Cool. There's a big meet (RSAE and possibly our Nats) in Brissy mid-year 2010. Hope you're still around then!

Yoz (guessing its Andrew) great news on your impending arrival!

Look forward to seing you in a pub sometome soon!

PS do you think you can sneak a V6 and PSS10 (sp?) shocks in your carry on luggage :D

I hope you've stocked up on beers...

V6 & Billys - I think Ethiad have a policy on that

Thats the only reason that we're coming... Hippo Racing and the Australian Boys Choir in one night... it must be a sell out!

im in for a piss up meet.

Oh and yoz while your out here dont forget to go climb mount druit, some great sites to see out there

Only 2 real race tracks in sydney one at eastern creek and the other at oran park which is due to close shortly, the other is about 2hr drive from sydney at wakefield park.

There are places that let you hire cars for track days but these are mostly exotics, not sure of any places that will let you hire a normal 4cyl hack, you could always just go to a car rental company and get an MX5 for the day

Posted

do a google search, probably a place you want to steer clear of

we will have to organise a drive day through kangaroo valley, great roads, good pub half way in but no kangaroos...

Keen to meet up with Yoz and the screw once you arrive. Piss up or drive, they're both fun.

If you see a 130 with roof racks in Darlinghurst (Darlo, once you get here), then chances are it'll be me.

Bring over another Clio V6 will you...!

Posted

Hey y0z

Awesome... Darlo is a great "lively" place to live... I wouldn't mind moving there at all!

Welcome ... you'll have a lot of fun...

Posted

Awesome! You'll love it here. Looking forward to a meet once you're here

PS. Reckon you can fit a 172 exhaust in your luggage? :P

Posted

Well,

If I can get someone over in Australia set up as a distributor it will be a darn sight cheaper for you guys.

Shipping is about £150 to Australia for a 182 System and about £125 for a £172 System - so it may be better for you to buy from our guys in the UK.

Coilovers - again - always a possibility - I can put it through my company in the UK and just have to get it shipped out to you.

Hi Yozza, good to see you making it out I remember when we where chatting ages ago on MSN that you mentioned it.

When you get out Cynthia and I would love to take you out to dinner, your position in Darlo is perfect.

I sold the R26 so now me and the missus have matching Honda 250's I'm on a VTR and she is on a CBF.

Be good to have a chat about the practicalities of a distributor, I saw Wolf PM's you I know he would be keen as would Anthony I think.

Anyway, can't wait to finally meet you and welcome to OZ :)

Aye mate - it has been a LONG time coming. We are just counting down now.

We have been living in a friend's spare bedroom for the last month, as we have rented our house out, so its been a bit harder than normal (not in that way) to get on with things, but hey - we have some time over there!

Well once I get an AUS Sim card and all that I will let you know - I am on skype and whatnot already, so drop me an email if you are on there.

The problem is that to make it a) worthwhile for me, and b) worthwhile for someone else - it is going to be hard to get a model right. I think that it might even be simpler to just offer flat rate shipping from the UK.

We are also looking at doing an "export" centre section that is in 2 pieces that you can either clamp or have tig'ed up over there?

Dinner would be cracking! Will let you know as soon as we are "in"

We will finish booking tickets on Monday.

See you in a few weeks :)

It is about 18 months since we first spoke about it!

You'll never leave. Funny how you ended up in the middle of party (boy) central to start with. I give it a year and you'll be in Balmain (or Bondi).

Catch you soon!

Posted

Never leave? Don't know - I want to build a new racecar... thats a good reason to head home... as there are "proper" race circuits in Europe

One of my mates was in Bondi the other week and compared it to the beach at Cromer??? Is he on crack?

Welcome Yoz. Great to hear that you'll be in our midst very soon. Darlo is a great place to spend a few months. maybe we should make our December monthly meet and "Meet Yoz" Meet???

Cool.

Aitch has been telling me to bring my hat & sun lotion - and from the latest thing he sent me through, it looks like we will need it! 41 degrees?

Bloody Hell - As a very white (transparent) paddy, it looks like I will be on the total sunblock!

So should get over the travel in a few days.

Will let you know what we are up to - we want to walk the bridge on the first Saturday that we are there. :)

We leave tomorrow - just sorting out a rook of sh*te at the moment - not much left to do now...

We will probably head to Hobart, as I know someone over there - will let you know. I am from Yarnfield - just outside Eccleshall - small world?
