ClioF1 Posted 16, July 2007 Report Share Posted 16, July 2007 This is mainly to check for dial-up users, but I've put in a few more poll options.

griffyn Posted 18, July 2007 Report Share Posted 18, July 2007 I've voted, but viewed the thread before I voted, and have checked back now there's a new post in here.... that makes 3 views, and I can only vote once!
murcod Posted 18, July 2007 Report Share Posted 18, July 2007 I can only get access at work via dial up; at home ADSL. Signature pics and embedded photos are a major PITA on dial up. Thumbnails or links and banning pics in sigs would be a big improvement for people on slow connections. I haven't voted because I'm a 50:50. DerrickC Posted 18, July 2007 Report Share Posted 18, July 2007 ADSL here, death to those on dial up
The Jeffster Posted 18, July 2007 Report Share Posted 18, July 2007 How about a text only version for people on dail up, and mobile phones If only :wanker:
ClioF1 Posted 18, July 2007 Author Report Share Posted 18, July 2007 How about a text only version for people on dail up, and mobile phones Thats a good idea Jeff, Dial-Up users can simply change their internet browser options to not show pics automatically. Would that solve your problem Murcod?

Seem to me the forum should cater to the common denomonator and in this case it's clearly broadband
dragyn Posted 19, July 2007 Report Share Posted 19, July 2007 Seem to me the forum should cater to the common denomonator and in this case it's clearly broadband ...and at Work
murcod Posted 19, July 2007 Report Share Posted 19, July 2007 Other forums have "lo fi version" options that give the option of not having all the bandwidth heavy fancy crud or pics- you select the option and you get text and not much else . Is it an option with this type of bulletin board? Personally I fail to see the need to have pics in sigs, but each to their own. Imagine if everyone maxxed out their sig lines with flowery pics. Clio F1 I use Firefox at work and imagine it would have an option to turn pics off? Given it only connects at 24kb/sec it's bloody slow.... BTW Jeffster you are truly arrogant! wade Posted 19, July 2007 Report Share Posted 19, July 2007 I use telekenesis, or a bio port that I stole from the set of existenz   classic Jeff good inovative suggestion....but Pops that was classic....jeff sorry mate but you were owned I agree that most of us use broadband (however I also use dial up at home). If we don't start to allow more dynamic content then the site will start to stagnate as technology moves along. If this is about improving content I vote we go down the broadband route. (if that is what this is about)
murcod Posted 19, July 2007 Report Share Posted 19, July 2007 Here's an example of the "Lo Fi" bulletin board option I was talking about: http://www.dtvforum.info/ Scroll right down to the bottom and click on the "Lo Fi Version" button on the gray bar- hey presto dial up friendly! Is there an option for that with this bulletin board? It would keep everyone happy- not everyone is a geek who pays for broadband and we could be losing potential members. pops Posted 20, July 2007 Report Share Posted 20, July 2007 In a world of V8's and turbo ricers it requires a certain amount of arrogance and self confidence to drive a french NA 2 litre.

DerrickC Posted 20, July 2007 Report Share Posted 20, July 2007 No one has selected dialup yet. I'm on a 76gb plan so hi res graphics ftw!
murcod Posted 20, July 2007 Report Share Posted 20, July 2007 No one has selected dialup yet. Just for you I've cast my vote. (I just chose to vote for the only way I can access the site at work...)
DerrickC Posted 20, July 2007 Report Share Posted 20, July 2007 That's still 95% on broadband? And 3% on dialup, the poll doesn't add up right lol.
murcod Posted 20, July 2007 Report Share Posted 20, July 2007 Well, I know when I'm on dial up accesing the site I don't browse topics "willy nilly"- I only open the ones that I'm really interested in (due to the time it takes each one to load.) So, perhaps dial up users haven't even looked at the thread for that reason?
