Psynapse Posted 21, November 2012 Report Share Posted 21, November 2012 Hi guys! I've recently become the proud owner of a RS 265, and i'm absolutely loving it thus far! As i'm sure most of you know, the sound system isn't the most amazing bit of kit ever, so yesterday I had the speakers upgraded and a Sub and amplifier fitted... Quite a little upgrade!! Anyway, I guess i'll see you all around! Cheers, Glenn
chiapoco Posted 22, November 2012 Report Share Posted 22, November 2012 Hey Glen where abouts did you get the system upgraded? cost the wallet much? Welcome to the forums and as you will probably find out in the next few posts.. pics are required
Psynapse Posted 22, November 2012 Author Report Share Posted 22, November 2012 I got the system upgraded at Freeway Audio in Malvern (Melbourne). 4 Focal Splits, a Focal Sub, a 5.1 Channel Alpine Amp, new cables throughout, sound deadening and installation, it set me back $2400! Which is well worth it for a Focal kit. I'll post pics up ASAP.

Hope you don't mind me asking; what did you upgrade from and what was it about the 265 that made you get it?

Does the standard head unit have pre outs for an external amp?
griffyn Posted 24, November 2012 Report Share Posted 24, November 2012 Does the standard head unit have pre outs for an external amp? I don't know of any Renault Headunit that has pre-outs
Renault_Tech Posted 24, November 2012 Report Share Posted 24, November 2012 I just had a listen to it and it sounds awesome. Very clean install and the sound it produces is unreal. Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk
RSPECT265 Posted 24, November 2012 Report Share Posted 24, November 2012 So i am guessing that the head unit has to be replaced?
BLKRS250 Posted 24, November 2012 Report Share Posted 24, November 2012 So i am guessing that the head unit has to be replaced? No, you can use a canbus signal generator to run the amp or a signal line converter off the speaker wires to run it
Renault_Tech Posted 24, November 2012 Report Share Posted 24, November 2012 Uses the stock head unit and retains all functions as well as the column controls. Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk

Psynapse Posted 2, December 2012 Author Report Share Posted 2, December 2012 Hey guys, sorry that I haven't been on to answer your questions!! You don't need to upgrade/replace the head unit to get the stereo upgraded. Not sure of the specifics, but Freeway Audio in Malvern did a great job in getting it done. Prepare to have a head unit in the boot, as the space under the seats isn't enough to fit one there! Mine is located behind the sub, on the back of the smaller rear seat section. You can't even see it, a really clean install, so it's a non issue to me. I wouldn't suggest doing the install yourself, unless you are a professional that is. In answer to someone elses question, I upgraded from a VY II Clubsport R8. The pure rawness of the car and the handling and control that the 265 has is out of this world, any 265 owner would agree with me! Really sorry that I haven't posted pics of the car or the install, but I promise I'll get onto it on my next day off!! Cheers, Glenn
