Halfcab Posted 28, February 2017 Report Share Posted 28, February 2017 Just purchased my first, an immaculate white 2010 RS250. I should have gotten one years ago instead of my Subaru. Is there any weird problems I should look out for? And on another note, a friend of mine is considering an RS, but loves gadgets. I know the sports monitor is an option, but will he still get boost/temperature readings on the screen without it, and just not have the extra modes? Cheers guys.
Tubbsy Posted 28, February 2017 Report Share Posted 28, February 2017 (edited) Welcome mate. We're all about timing belts here, not much else interesting or fun about the cars, so head over to the belts thread and get strapped in. chuckovski Posted 28, February 2017 Report Share Posted 28, February 2017 Welcome! No real issues. RS are built in a different factory and country than your standard cars, seems to make a big difference. As alluded to, belts are often talked about but it's nothing more than a concern with standard performance cars. You'll have a much longer service interval than your subie! As for RS monitor you friend is best advised to get an RB8 or facelift 265 cup or 275 trophy or cup premium. It has RS monitor 2.0 which is great. I don't have an RS monitor at all and love the car, but from what I've heard it's awesome. I also suggest a resonator delete if not already done. Halfcab Posted 28, February 2017 Author Report Share Posted 28, February 2017 The Subaru was every 5k kms, and with my long commute it seemed like it was getting done every second week. I've been eyeing off a miltek cat back to throw on it, how loud are they? Or not worth it when I can just take the resonator out. I can deal with noise, had straight pipes on the Subaru for a few years and put up with it. But I'd like something closer to legal. Have to do something about the stereo too, but I'll make do with it for now.
clixx-io Posted 28, February 2017 Report Share Posted 28, February 2017 Is there any weird problems I should look out for? Yes. With most other brands one car is enough. ie One WRX, one EVO, one Falcon. That's fine. Here, the weirdness is that the cars seem to be treated more like a ladies shoe collection - and nobody can ever decide which is the best one. To solve the problem, people just seem to buy more, need them or not.

speedfiend41 Posted 1, March 2017 Report Share Posted 1, March 2017 Don't worry about a Miltek until you've done a resonator delete and maybe an aftermarket Magnaflow to replace the standard exhaust. Exhausts do bugger all for performance with these and the above mods are really good noise for your dollar. Weird problems? If I reach for the seatbelt after I've shut my door I'll dislocate my shoulder, so do that first! In fact, starting goes like this: Slide over Recaro bolster being careful not to nut yourself. Reach for seatbelt prior to shutting door, especially if you have stuffed shoulders. Shut door. Press start. Press RS button. If you forget, you're likely to stall immediately, especially if you've set your throttle map to Sport or Extreme. Drive off. Laugh like a maniac at first pop on gear change. Repeat. Have an awesome day.
Halfcab Posted 1, March 2017 Author Report Share Posted 1, March 2017 (edited) Yeah I've noticed the recaros are a bit hard to get into, lack of space between the seat and wheel for me really. I'm not a fan of the speedo having odd numbers, but I'll get used to that. The cars confusing me a bit, it's a cup with recaros, sport monitor, xenons and 19's. Surely it would have been cheaper to get the trophy when it was new? Edit: also has folding mirrors, google says they were only on the trophy? dongerz1 Posted 7, March 2017 Report Share Posted 7, March 2017 The odd speedo is super confusing! Especially trying to find 60km between 50-70. That's why I use the digital speedo now. Those extras are exactly a Trophy, don't why the previous owner optioned up a cup to that level. For the exhaust, defs go with a mid res delete to see how you like. its enough for <$200 you spend vs a cat back in the thousands
