Weezer Posted 26, February 2009 Report Share Posted 26, February 2009 Hello one and all, Glad to be joining the fraternity, a very happy new 172 owner here Best car I've owned by a country mile, am enjoying every minute of it. I've finally managed to buy a car I've wanted, rather than giving in to lack of funds and SWMBO trying to push me to the practical side of things (2 doors, no way!!) Probably went in a bit too blind with the purchase, but am not regretting it one bit even though I didn't bargain that hard for a 2003 which hadn't had the timing belt done (only 70k though). It's in the shop now at the one and only Renault/Pug specialist in Canberra (not including the dealerships)...but it's all good, nothing I wasn't prepared to do. Seen a few around Canberra in the short time I've actually been looking out for them, one silver, one blue. Mine's arctic blue, with 16" Momo's, beautiful wheels and one of the main reasons I went for this one over others around the same price, as I think the standard 15's don't do the car justice and was factoring that into the price. Bought the car from Sydney in Dec last year. Anyway, hello again and am looking forward to having a nose around the forum!! A few pics, apologies if they are too big or I should be posting them in a better way (tech unco)!

rmadrid-182 Posted 26, February 2009 Report Share Posted 26, February 2009 Hi Weezer, welcome to the forum. glad you're loving the car, but tell the missus it is practical, you can do the shopping in it, fit 5 people in it, its small size makes it easy to move in crowded streets and carparks, 4 star safety rating and sometimes it loves to dabble on the track as well
walkie86 Posted 26, February 2009 Report Share Posted 26, February 2009 Welcome Weezer! Those wheels actually look quite good! Also, yours being a 172, the colour is actually called Monaco Blue (Arctic Blue is the metallic on 182s). Also, as Riz said above - the Clio is extremely practical! Just find the thread about stuff that you can fit in the back of it & show the missus the pics! Enjoy, Alex
spaleta_9 Posted 27, February 2009 Report Share Posted 27, February 2009 Welcome Weezer, Great to see another Canberran owner on the forum! Also from one monaco 172 owner to another, you chose the best colour! Theres only probably a dozen or so 172s/182s in Canberra so you've joined a special group... Hope to see you flying around town, enjoy! Adam
Weezer Posted 27, February 2009 Author Report Share Posted 27, February 2009 Thanks for the hearty welcomes and for correcting my incorrect assumption on the colour! I think I'm winning the wife over already...I've proved I can fit the kids in the back...and she gets to drive it to work 2 nights a week, lucky girl. Adam, I'll make sure I give any other RSC (or is it RCS?) I see around town a wave...

Dish Posted 2, March 2009 Report Share Posted 2, March 2009 Hey there Weezer, Welcome aboard. My first 2 172s were Monaco Blue - really is a terrific colour. Love the way it goes purple in the late afternoon light. Those wheels look good on it too Very practical all rounder as others have said. I once managed to fit over 3 shopping trolleys worth of items into mine (travelling alone) - and I'm talking 3 trolleys stacked well over the top - plus about 2 or 3 1.6m wide rugs all in one go! Cheers, Dish.
Weezer Posted 3, March 2009 Author Report Share Posted 3, March 2009 Thanks Dish. I've shown your post to the wife and she laughed (in a good way). 3 shopping trolleys and 2 rugs? I won't ask what you were planning on doing To tell the truth I actually thought the car was green when I saw it on carsales, but yes the colour does change in different light...beautiful colour. And RSC it is Walkie
Dish Posted 3, March 2009 Report Share Posted 3, March 2009 Well, not that I put 3 trolleys in, but 3 trolley-loads haha, I used to have a retail business, selling rugs and homewares. For anyone wanting to transport anything up to about 2.2m long but narrow (like a rolled up rug, sans body LOL), you can pretty much go from passenger footwell to boot without too much effort. rsc Posted 8, March 2009 Report Share Posted 8, March 2009 G'day all, especially the Canberra connections. Been I proud owner of a 172 for about a year - wanted one since 2002 but reality bites and it took many years and the imminent death of my SSS Pulsar to get me across the line. No mods apart from a filter replacement but I hope to one day replace the absolutley trashed original 15"s as the previous owner was either totally incompetant or didn't care. Black and regularly polished so the crap wheels become a real eyesore. Like the Momos Weezer - think I've seen your car around Lot's of questions I like to ask averyone along the lines of "if you had $1000 to spend what would you modify?" but I'll search aroound on the sight a bit first. Great to be part of the exclusive RS club! Cheers, R

Weezer Posted 10, March 2009 Author Report Share Posted 10, March 2009 Hello from one Canberran to another! I know I haven't seen you around as I haven't seen a black RSC yet, but I'm constantly on the lookout now! Pity about the wheels

147owner Posted 18, March 2009 Report Share Posted 18, March 2009 Welcome to another Canberran. I always keep an eye for other Renault Sport cars around town...
Weezer Posted 18, March 2009 Author Report Share Posted 18, March 2009 Good to see there are a few Canberran's in here! Has there ever been an OzRENAULTSport based Canberra drive day? I've read a thread on Aussiefrogs about a Canberra drive day at which there was at least one RSC. There was some good pics! Total virgin when it comes to such things but would be good to check one out. As far as the Nationals go, it just so happens that my outlaws live just down the road from Winton in Euroa, so if incorporated into a 'family trip' it could well be on the cards!! Not sure I would participate in the drive day being a total novice but would definitely be keen on coming down for a looksie! ....and Jeffster, Weezer rock I had to go and load a Weezer Cd into the stacker!
