Walt Posted 7 June Report Share Posted 7 June Hi all, Newbie here. Thinking of purchasing a Clio rs trophy 2016 for a decent price. My biggest concern is that it's done about 150,000 km. I've never owned a Renault before, and I am just worried about the maintenance costs down the road/ potential issues. All feedback/ comments are welcomed! Deet Posted 7 June Report Share Posted 7 June Mine is at 140,000k. And its been the cheapest car to maintain that I have owned. the is a turbo pipe that is probe to blow. The TCU is also a common issue. But mostly its the usual services. Brakes and tires. keep in mind its a Nissan based engine. An they last forever. Its even a chain driven cam so thats one less service issue you avoid
woot woot Posted 7 June Report Share Posted 7 June The gearbox clutches and TCU is a very massive problem that seems to come up form the ph1 after around 7 years it so. I would recommend being close to one of the specialists in the major cities as many mechanics to save you pain of finding a mechanic that knows anything about the car. eight Posted 8 June Report Share Posted 8 June (edited) 2016 is probably phase 2 facelift that have been improved. I would check service history, paying attention to gearbox oil change. Buying used cars is always a lottery no matter how good reputation thay have. Get mechanic to inspect the car before hand. Ask Renotech for opinion Edited 8 June by eight
Rammus Posted 8 June Report Share Posted 8 June 188k km owner here, only major issue so far is the aircon not working properly but that's more on me for not picking it up when I bought the car. Otherwise it's consumables and that's about it. Most important consideration is service history, for that milage I wouldn't touch one that doesn't have a comprehensive list. If the price is too good to resist without one (sub 10k) I would give Miles at Renotech a bell to see if he can inspect and/or knows about the car. Re: standard servicing it's not that much more than any other vehicle if even. Just avoid dealerships and go to the specialists
Walt Posted 8 June Author Report Share Posted 8 June Thank you everyone! All of your comments are extremely helpful. I'm definitely going to reach out to Renotech and get their opinion and inspect. For those who are interested, I'll keep you updated, hopefully with pics when I purchase it.
