Onrus Posted 27, December 2018 Report Share Posted 27, December 2018 Does anyone have an opinion on the Megane GT220 wagon? I really want a Clio RS but I’m worried it’s two small for my family of 3. Would the wagon make a good substitute? Thanks in advance.
Sdubs Posted 27, December 2018 Report Share Posted 27, December 2018 Simply, it grips, points and goes, in a way that more mundane mid-sized wagons competing in that price bracket, cant.
ZekeB Posted 20, January 2019 Report Share Posted 20, January 2019 GT220 is a great car and some have expressed to me that it was the pick of the Megane range. Its great fun to drive and still practical at a good price. I regretfully sold ours as we needed AWD and something bigger (Koleos) but also bought a Clio Trophy. The Clio is more fun than the GT220 in the right environment, but it would be more difficult to live as a family car. I'd go for the GT220. Its a great drive and will give the family room to breathe
Moosey Posted 21, January 2019 Report Share Posted 21, January 2019 Excellent car. Nearly as quick as an RS250 in a straight line, pretty good through the corners except the really tight stuff where the lack of Perfohub and LSD result in exit under steer and traction control cutting in. A bit firm in the ride, but comfortable on a trip and super practical. There are a few happy owners on here.
Aaron_GT220 Posted 25, January 2019 Report Share Posted 25, January 2019 +1 on the above.Very very capable long distance car, the extra wheelbase (wagon as opposed to gt220 hatch) makes it a bit more settled.Very easy to spend 10+ hours a day in cross-country if you have a need. Absolutely eats our country highways and byways up with ease.
Safetyman Posted 25, January 2019 Report Share Posted 25, January 2019 +2 on the above. It has it's own personality. It's not a boy racer or track demon but like an RS, as speed builds it just seems to liven up and beg for more.
