LYMegane Posted 18, December 2016 Report Share Posted 18, December 2016 Hi there from across the ditch in New Zealand. Have been floating around the forum for a while now in the build up to my purchase of my LY 265 (looks like the one at the top of your screen except with black door handles). Really excited to be picking it up this Saturday, have loved these cars for the past few years when i first drove a RS265 back in 2012. I am coming from an 05 WRX STi which i loved but the road feel and handling and the overall driving experience is in another league with the Megane. Will upload some pics when i pick it up! Cheers.
chuckovski Posted 18, December 2016 Report Share Posted 18, December 2016 Nice mate! Congratulations If I'm not mistaken though the yellow Megane III on the forum banner is solid yellow; yours should sparkle a bit more!

KeepItLow Posted 19, December 2016 Report Share Posted 19, December 2016 You're gonna love it, the megane is by far the best handling car I've ever owned in stock form and that's coming from a few fun sports cars!
LYMegane Posted 21, December 2016 Author Report Share Posted 21, December 2016 How does it compare fun wise to the RS3? Reviews state RS3's as umdersteery but hey that's always on a track not on the road. My old man has a Mk3 Focus RS and a BMW 1M so looking forward to picking mine up tomorrow and heading to his place for some comparison drives! LYMegane Posted 21, December 2016 Author Report Share Posted 21, December 2016 It will be, i'll write something up later on. Two things: I suspect minor curb damage from the last owner of my Steevs (from what i can see in the photos). They are the same as the wheels as the car on the site banner pic. How difficult are these to repair being bare metal? Second thing: You Aussies have sooooo many Meganes to choose from on Carsales! It's unbelievable! There's literally 5 to choose from in NZ
LYMegane Posted 22, December 2016 Author Report Share Posted 22, December 2016 So just had my first drive in the megane at night in the wet so not really much of a first drive but it felt awesome, everything was so tight. When I went to take off for the first time I almost stalled it because I wasn't ready for how agresively the clutch pushes your foot out lol. Only problem I have with it is the cup holder in front of the gear stick rattles away like there's no tomorrow. Going to try and take it out tomorrow and see what's up. Looking forward to a longer drive tomorrow(hopefully in the dry this time!)
ghettogolfer Posted 22, December 2016 Report Share Posted 22, December 2016 Really? I found the clutch pedaal to be quite light and the clutch grab is progressive and not aggressive. Ive come from a mazda sp25 and the megane is a more comfortable tootler around town. I usually commute via PT but have driven the last two days to work. I think im in love.
dongerz1 Posted 23, December 2016 Report Share Posted 23, December 2016 Glad you're loving the car mate. The steev wheels are a tricky one as they're polished metal rather than paint. wheel repair places would spray them silver which you might notice. The proper way is possibly to get them on a CNC machine which is about $900 here in Aus. Yes the clutch is quite agressive for your first time before you get used to it. but thats all part of the fun with these cars! Any mods you thinking of doing? LYMegane Posted 23, December 2016 Author Report Share Posted 23, December 2016 Yeah drove it a bit more today after the 7 hour detail. (Yes i know but im driving 400km's back home tomorrow anyway). Aggressively might have been the wrong word. "Springy" is probably more like it. Ill probably just start with a chip in a few months time followed by carbon fiber badges then a new exhaust waaaaay down the line once i find the money
dongerz1 Posted 23, December 2016 Report Share Posted 23, December 2016 No need for an exhaust bro! everyone on this forum will strongly recommend a mid box chop for <$150. You'll be pretty happy with that, everyone else is. The CF badges are dang exxy, I wrapped mine in CF wrap for the look, but getting the gloss black badge covers coming in. Also recommend debadging the Megane letter on the boot.
LYMegane Posted 23, December 2016 Author Report Share Posted 23, December 2016 Going to de-badge the letters on the boot over the weekend. Thanks for the tip about the exhaust i'll keep that in mind. Does anybody know by any chance whether you can and if so where you get touch up paint? I had a quick search on google but couldn't really see anything other than some on amazon but no LY... dongerz1 Posted 23, December 2016 Report Share Posted 23, December 2016 wont be disappointed with the box chop LY is a hard colour to match, might have to ask dealer if they have some lying around?
LYMegane Posted 4, January 2017 Author Report Share Posted 4, January 2017 How much are your guys services on average? Besides the 299 dollar deal some of you had. I just did my 20k service and it cost me 700 bucks in NZ
stromlo Posted 4, January 2017 Report Share Posted 4, January 2017 (edited) Does anybody know by any chance whether you can and if so where you get touch up paint? I had a quick search on google but couldn't really see anything other than some on amazon but no LY... Welcome and congrats mate. As far as I know LY is not available as a touchup, as it's actually a few layers of paint to give the effect + clearcoat. Someone on the site apparently found a liquid lipstick that is a good doppelganger...search for that one...but no promises on being an exact match Edited 4, January 2017 by stromlo
DanR Posted 5, January 2017 Report Share Posted 5, January 2017 Keep enjoying...quoted today for carbon wrap roof and side skirts $600...removing center silencer is worthwhile.
