Mylo Posted 3, March 2022 Report Share Posted 3, March 2022 Hi just bought the 2008 red 225 sport from the Osborne Park dealer in Perth, low km , apparently 1 owner little old lady , course it was!, good log book, drives well, taking delivery next day or so. I like drivers cars, enjoy the track and usually dont hold them for too long, have had boxster S , air cooled 911's, A45, polo and golf GTI, ss commondore, Nissan S15,. Havnt had a renault for years , since a fuego in the 90's , which I have fond memories of. Been looking for cheap euro thrills either an alfa or a renault, had a look at the black 2013 Clio rs in Wangara, but ended up going for this 225, prices are up compared to a few years ago, not sure if I paid too much, but ah well, that's impulse for you. hopefully it goes well, will drive it for a while make sure it's all good then maybe start some upgrades. Any recommendations on mechanics mods, maintenace , clubs and driving events are welcome. I don't mind social drives to meet a few people initially but really I prefer flogging it around a track. I have a few good mechanics I trust , but mainly they do German and race cars so not sure what they knows about these so happy to go with a renault specialist. Thanks for reading and looking fwd to meeting a few renault rev heads in Perth Cheers Mylo

There are several of us on this forum who can give advice based on experience re competition tyres, brake pads, fluid, suspensions etc etc - just ask !!! Phillyphil Posted 3, March 2022 Report Share Posted 3, March 2022 Hi Fella and welcome, As far as mods you can't go past new engine, gearbox and chassis polybushings. Powerflex in Melbourne get stock out of UK with 5 weeks lead time. Tighten up that 15 year old chassis and you will love it. Enjoy it for what it is and don't go too crazy on power mods. Brakes and tyres are the best bang for buck to go quick. Your 225 is mid 1300kgs so you have an advantage over every modern car as it's light! Best mod I did on my Gordini was the Quaife diff. Make your 225 equivalent to the cult R26 meg2 If you like the track there is about 4 of us with RS cars that compete in the TECCWA Red Mist Autokhana Series. It used to be Tiger Kart Club Car Park but now moving event to infield at barbs. Otherwise join WASCC for Barbs events and join Collie FB page for tuning days. Speed Event Series is good too. Few RS cars there too. You will find RS crew at UWA Coffee N Cars once restrictions are off. Perth Alpine and Renault Sport FB page for chats. For Mechanics in Perth Eurocare in Burswood is good. I have all the RS workshop manuals so no real need to take cars to specialists just take it to a mechanic you trust and use and they can follow the step by steps. Enjoy the ownership. Philly. Mylo Posted 4, March 2022 Author Report Share Posted 4, March 2022 Thanks Slick for the Welcome, and Philly for the local info, Philly good advice on the polybushings, brakes too, its got a new set of pirellis on it so see how they go, and get some sticky r's when they wear out a bit. I was WASCC member few years back with various cars doing the sprints at barb and have done collie with PCWA so yes im up for that. I let everything lapse over the last few years but plan to get back into it now. Might see you down at UWA when its on again, and may hit you up for copy manual if my mechanic doesnt have access to them cheers Mylo

I'll share my Microsoft One Drive link if you flick us a email. Renault Sport cars are great fun but local spares and support not the best. Most people get OEM spares and go fast parts from the UK but the manuals let you or your mechanic have a crack yourself. 2 hours ago, Mylo said:
jberth1 Posted 4, March 2022 Report Share Posted 4, March 2022 Fit a 230 LSD to it. 225's with an open diff just invite the traction / stability control to intervene too much. Cheers Justin
