WLMRS200 Posted 23, June 2021 Report Share Posted 23, June 2021 Hi All I'm new to the forum and purchasing a mk3 rs200 shortly and if possible would like to know what the main areas to inspect prior purchase. Any help would be appreciated Chris
woot woot Posted 23, June 2021 Report Share Posted 23, June 2021 Make sure the car is cold when first driving it. A warm gearbox hides bad shifting. Otherwise engine mounts, seat and steering wheel wear. If you can check the ball joints and timing belt and water pump history
dn2blue Posted 23, June 2021 Report Share Posted 23, June 2021 As above, gearbox is probably the most common and expensive thing to fix. Next is check when the timing belts were replaced as that is also pricey to replace. Most other things are minor and easily fixed.
Marcus36 Posted 24, June 2021 Report Share Posted 24, June 2021 I concur with the comments above. Assuming a full service history is available, it will tell you when the belts and water pump were last done. Thats the big one that you will either want done, or budget $1200 to get it done yourself when you purchase the car (if its due)
