strife Posted 3, November 2009 Report Share Posted 3, November 2009 Wanna check with the Admins here. Would there be any problems with me porting some of the more useful guides from cliosport.net onto this forum? Technically cliosport.net don't own the guides and as long as I place a reference to the link and thank the creator of the guide then there shouldn't be an issue right? Cheers James
Dish Posted 4, November 2009 Report Share Posted 4, November 2009 I don't think there'll be an issue in general, but there might be on a case to case basis. We'll play it by ear.
strife Posted 4, November 2009 Author Report Share Posted 4, November 2009 then I'll start importing them over the next few days.
Bremund Posted 4, November 2009 Report Share Posted 4, November 2009 If they are in the paid for section don't copy them over.
griffyn Posted 4, November 2009 Report Share Posted 4, November 2009 Technically cliosport.net don't own the guides and as long as I place a reference to the link and thank the creator of the guide then there shouldn't be an issue right? Not necessarily. Cliosport.net may have permission from the owner to publish them - we don't (except for fubar). They're not public domain, nor fair-use if they're "copy protected" by being behind a login, as soon as that's bypassed (by you copying them off), they become copyright infringing material, and we're not covered under "fair use" in that case as far as I'm aware of Oz Copyright laws. strife Posted 4, November 2009 Author Report Share Posted 4, November 2009 For any paid ones, then I will consult the author beforehand. Or is that still a violation?
Bremund Posted 4, November 2009 Report Share Posted 4, November 2009 I feel that we shouldn't be copying anything over. Let our own member base provide information/guides/etc. We have enough local knowledge. If you are stuck, ask a question, I've not seen anyone wanting yet.
