CHRIS-172 Posted 29, May 2007 Report Posted 29, May 2007 Hi all, Only purchased my RSC last tuesday and got carded by brendan at uni on thursday so hats off to him! Looking forward to getting together during group days and what not, as well as posting. I thought id ask the exprts ie you guys, There are some servicing issues i was hoping someone could shed some light on. Firstly the car has done 94k but as i just purchased it, im keen to get the 100k service done. Now the car has been previously serviced at col crawford and northshore motors where i believe it was purchased. The question is, where is a good place to service it? Is it competely necessary to use a renault dealer when it is out of warrantly. Im told the service could cost 1000 at a renault dealer but 560-600 at my local ultratune... Secondly there is an electronic gremlin in the climate control sytem. Randomly it will just blow hot hot air and not respond to any temperature setting changes i make...is there a really good place to go to and resolve the issue or has anyone else ever had a similar experience with climate control systems...? Also wouldnt mind getting my windows tinted, anyone with good experiences? Also the car has has inferior tyres fitted to it (generic bob jane things), it still seems to handle well and turn in well but im sure could be better. I read somewhere that michelin exaultos were homogolated for the RSC but that may have been the cup version? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks chris. Quote
brendans225 Posted 29, May 2007 Report Posted 29, May 2007 Welcome Chris I saw your car again at uni yesterday Have fun in your new car, and look forward to catching up with u someday Cheers, Brendan Quote
murcod Posted 29, May 2007 Report Posted 29, May 2007 Welcome Chris. Do a quick search on the Climate control- a control solenoid/ valve fitting breaks on a lot of them. There's a good post on how to fix it. For tyres, the Exaltos are only available in 16" in Australia (205/45R16). Michelin Pilot Precedia 2's seem to be popular for the 15" rims. Quote
MR PEA Posted 29, May 2007 Report Posted 29, May 2007 yea 100k service is about 1100, if your not geting it done by a renault dealer, get it done by a specialist.. you will find that ultra tune will get about 30% of the way and call you up to say that they cant do it becuase they dont have the locking tool. get someone like Paul V, to do it... prolly cost ya bout 7-900. but worth the penny's also welcome! The Jeffster Posted 29, May 2007 Report Posted 29, May 2007 I highly recommend having Paul V look at it and change the cam belt, maybe chuck in some Neo oil for good measure. Paul will look for things other people will miss. Miles at Waitara is the second choice of course which is logistically closer for warranty repairs, but go to Paul first without a doubt. Paul V: 9587 7975 Welcome mate agreed Jeffster.......and replace the tyres with Pilot Preceda 2's. Also go to pedders and get them to fit some camber pins and set them to -1.0 or -1.5...this will ensure that the tyre wear is even for the life of the tyre. How negative you go depends on how often you use the performance of the car. Quote

rup11e Posted 30, May 2007 Report Posted 30, May 2007 Welcome Chris! Can't help you with any of your issues but i am interested in getting tints myself so i'll be keeping an eye on this thread for suggestions. Quote
CHRIS-172 Posted 30, May 2007 Author Report Posted 30, May 2007 quickie with tints the % means the residual sun coming in??? ill have to have a look but dont want to go to to dark, was reading the thread in the tech section bout them. Thinking i might go somewhere between 20-35% and not sure about the metallic looking ones? dont want it completely blacked out from outside but not a fishbowl either. Quote
