  1. I've raised two kids in a Meg 225 and then the Clio III Red Bull. The wife had the 225 for quite some time, including when our youngest was still rear facing. Now it's the Clio and a W204 Merc C200 Kompressor. While the doors are four, it missing the excitement. Sent from my HTC_PN071 using Tapatalk
  2. I drove both and did go with the RB7 Red Bull. Price wasn't so much a concern, but driver enjoyment was high on my list. The Clio is both serious and hilarious at the same time.
  3. In the 225 the pram is not a problem at all. We have a Strider Deluxe which you have to take one of the rear wheels off to fit in the boot of the 225. In the Clio RB7 you needed to take both wheels off. Now that the second child is more than 8 months old (he's 13 months now) we reverted to using our Maclaren. These prams are very underrated as they fold into very tight spaces. In fact, this particular pram has been in 7 cars (excluding hire cars), on three trips to Europe, 4 trips on flights interstate, dragged who-knows how many kms, and operates like the day we bought it. It shows a bit of wear and tear, but for what it's capable of I'd get one again.
  4. We (wife and I) have two car seats in the back of our 225 (3-door). One is an isofix Maxi Cosi convertible. It's rear facing at the moment and the only inconvenience is the passenger seat, which is in front of it, is slightly more forward than we'd have it, but not uncomfortably so. Unless you own a long wheelbase Bombodore, there isn't a car I've been in that could handle front seats right back in a comfortable position while the child seat is rear facing. I am 182cm tall and wife is 167cm. "So why do I post this given you ask if someone has this set up in a Clio III?" I hear you ask. Well I've had exactly the same set up in the RB7. While it's slightly smaller than the 225, again I wouldn't call it uncomfortable. This is with the Recaros. We tend to use the 225 for the kids as it's the wife's car, so is fitted and equipped with everything that is naturally a pain in the a*** to swap into the Clio unless there's a long drive ahead (e.g. nappy bags, Elmo wipes, pram, change of clothes, toys, etc.). While both cars have no rear passenger doors we don't want to get rid of either. We both enjoy driving. For reference, the kids are 13 months, and 5 years old. The youngest had his first ride in the 225.
  5. When you have a large monitor at work and it's open plan like mine, avatars matter. +eleventy that this is sorted.
  6. Welcome aboard. No doubt this with be a very useful community and would welcome if you ever visit. When you look at the tax on cars in Singapore it's no wonder. In fact, I would've though 30 was a high number.
  7. Great news. We always need more SA owners on drive days. That and the work carport will look so much nicer with two Meganes
  8. Just a little one I did spend 5 years of my childhood so I have plenty of firsthand experience, of all it has to offer. Waaaaah!!!!!! It took you 5 years to see all it has to offer????!!!!!!!! It takes most tourists 5 minutes.
  9. Most definitely time for another SA cruise. Congratulations on the other menu of tapatalk, Mofo. Unfortunately for me, the wait for something like this seems ages away, what with SWMBO wanting a new house, new shoes every two weeks, and an aversion to spending anything remotely related to the garage.
  10. I have had a 172, and currently have an '07 Fiesta Zetec and 225 Megane in the garage. Is your Fiesta the WQ, or the later WS model as I believe 2009 is the year that the new model came out? I actually have both of these as well, as it turns out. The WS Fiesta is a LOT softer than the WQ as it never came with sports suspension (the earlier WS did, and the latest WT does) but rather, it has the same setup as the lesser models (CL, LX, Ghia). I moved from the Clio 172 straight to the WQ Fiesta and while I found the Clio a little more balanced and manoeuvrable, the Fiesta has far greater corner speeds and road holding. A well sorted Clio 182 will return the Clio to front-runner status. That, and the Clio has a far better engine and chassis. I am selling my WQ Fiesta, but as I do have this car, the WS and the Megane 225 at the moment I can say that if I have the choice of any drive on a nice weekend I will pick the Megane. If I'm going to be stuck in traffic then I'll generally pick either the WQ Fiesta or the Megane. The RSM is more enjoyable, but it is more hungry for liquid dinosaur. Reviewing your criteria, the Megane will feel "bigger" in terms of it's handling charateristics. But only marginally. Given you'd also like to track the car, and I suspect you'd like to win in a class, then the Clio is definitely the one for you as trixie has stated. If you're after something more comfortable, but equally as fast as the Clio when you need it, then get the Megane. You'll just not be competitive in your class.
  11. Definitely need to organise another of the SA drive days. Back in the day when I had my RSC172 they were a h00t! Remember doing the Euro drive day a few years back, and then my final one in the Fiesta once the Clio was sold, which required a fair amount of on-the-limit driving to keep up. Now that I've got the RSM I'm itching to get back into it again.
  12. If it was me, option 2.
  13. I'm sure he will. He's already at 1993Heritage's level of involvement with events and now on the forum. Wish I had stil had my RS so I could come along. Nationals looks like a h00t!
  14. Two items recently purchased Due to strong Euro vs. A$ it appears genuine Renault is getting more expensive. For RSC 172: Speed Sensor Pick Up (the one on the gearbox) - $130.80 from Unley Renault
