Required Posted 28, March 2018 Report Share Posted 28, March 2018 Hi all - just arrived in Adelaide from the Middle East and picked up a 2011 Megane Trophee. So far great fun but low speed limits quite a drag! Looking to get out on track days and find some decent roads nearby. Wasn’t aware how bad the roads are round here until I drove the Megane around! Currently got an issue with stalling on a cold start - getting the dealer to look into it but if anyone has any history of this issue I’m all ears. Cheers Tom
chuckovski Posted 28, March 2018 Report Share Posted 28, March 2018 Welcome, great choice! If roads are rubbish swapping to 18" wheels can help, or going 245 with the 19" tyresCold start is a well known problem, dealer should be able to update the ECU no problems

Looks like an injector SW update has sorted the issue, for now. Also the dealer recommended running on 95 rather than 98. Will see how it goes. I’m on 245s at the moment - previous owner chose Pirelli Dragon Sports. Wouldn’t be my 1st choice but will keep until they wear out.

Yeah they're ok but PS4S are the new forum favourite that I'll be using next, budget option is Hankook Evo S2

Next job is timing belt - looks like it’s not been done at all (missed at 4 year point in 2016). Looks like along with tyre choices that timing belts are a subject that comes up frequently on here! Make sure you get it done by a RenaultSport specialist (which takes some Renault dealers off the list!). I can't remember anyone in Adelaide recommending a mechanic but I'm sure there are some good ones. There's a great tyre thread but it is looooooong. Worth going through in detail if you're after a good track tyre.
