Hi all just wondering how many of you have had the gear shift change module fail on your 2013 onward  Clio rs

We are up to No 2 on two different  cars

Dealer laughed and said "yeh we do one a week"

Got to be something wrong hasn't there for a car sold as a track day car :( !!!!!?????

A Renault mechanic told me a lot were replaced on the really early models. But not that many any more. You hear of a few. But not that many.

Driving standard of your average Faceplant user? 😁

Mostly standard from the sounds of it. Many like the car but then have the GB issue and ask why it happened on a newish car

Had mine replaced a year ago. Car throwed neutral and popped the message "check auto gearbox". The new tcm had a different part number than the oem one but iam unsure if it is due to an improved part or just a new factory code. The gearchange motors are inside the tcm and get stressed a lot. My car had probably a hard life and the previous owner sold it to me without letting me know about the issue, so i had to search and search about what was the cause of the message that once and then popped from my dash. A real douchebag.

My advice is, change your gearbox oil every year or every 30 thousand kms max, always have a fresh battery, agm type only and dont overstress your car for a big period of time. Spirited driving should be done like push, let go, push again, let it cool down and go again. Thats how you help the longevity of the tcm. The clutch packs longevity is more or less the same as a manual box one in terms of itsworking principals so you all know what to do.

The car is great and amazing fun. Apart from any known issues, the only edc drawback is the time delay between gearchange and the paddle selection. Otherwise is rapid and addictive. Have fun wih them people, they are meant to be driven
