Squeaky brakes - Clio RS Trophy

Hey yall!

Not sure if the "BMW" dealership I brought my Clio from is spinning me a lot of S**t or that's just the way it is? I test drove the vehicle a few weeks back now and the brakes sounded fine, ever since I drove the car off the lot as the owner the brakes are super squeaky under light braking?

I've taken it to the BMW dealership for the mechanics to look at and they told me "the brakes are fine, Renault brake compounds are different to most of your comfort cars, they're designed for the track so you have to use they more aggressively to warm them up and the squeaking will go away, this happens with all of our BMW motorsport cars" (Load of s**t). He then told me to take it to Renault and ask if this was normal from their specialists which makes me think that he is definitely talking smack.

Anyone else had an issue like this before?

Performance brake pads DO squeak, especially when used a daily without a regular, solid spirited drive/track workout. That’s because they don’t regularly or consistently heat up to a full operating temperature, so pad material adheres to the disk as a glaze..which causes the squeak. So, one way to try to reduce the problem is to take the car to a nice deserted road, and try 6-8 hard brake applications from 80kph to 40kph, drive to cool the brakes and then see if the squeak goes.

I run Ferodo DS2500 on Clio IV Cup most of the time, super quite as is the standard pads also Ferodo. Maybe sticky piston if sitting around a lot.

Take it for a real hard run with nobody around and do not speed as Ttimbo says

Worn Rotors and new pads can be a problem.. I have just replaced my rotors and Genuine pads, all fine..

Also when washing the car, high pressure the inner wheels, calipers and rotors, to remove dust etc..

I thought the same with the stock Brembo pads and cool temperatures, however I took it to a relative's shop who imports brake pads and he took off my brakes and re-oiled them and now the squeaking in the final 10m of braking has ceased. Perhaps consult with a brake specialist?

I would say he lubricated the slide pins.....My suggestion to you is to drive it hard and really use the pads...that gets the material to adhere to the rotors. We use genuine pads all the time and have never had a problem...
