Croacker Posted 21, September 2018 Report Share Posted 21, September 2018 I have a 2005 megane not long bought.Front left fender is a little damaged. It has a 20cm crack and a piece missing about the size of a 10 cent coin.I believe it is made of some type of thermoplastic.Should I have it repaired and painted(expensive?)and can a regular panel beater do the job or should I just buy a new fender? Can someone help? Croacker Posted 25, September 2018 Author Report Share Posted 25, September 2018 Here is a photo of the damage.Interestingly the fenders are bolted and plastic welded(bottom rear) to the body.Is that standard practice?
Bingle Posted 25, September 2018 Report Share Posted 25, September 2018 Easier to replace than repair I think. They're not that hard to remove. They use some sort of adhesive in a couple of places for reasons I'm not sure about but probably just to prevent ingress of water and mud. Again, it's not hard to hack through the adhesive. Something like Sikaflex 221 would be fine to stick the new one on. Why not try to find a second hand replacement?
KeepItLow Posted 25, September 2018 Report Share Posted 25, September 2018 Jump on Gumtree, there's a few Megane 2 wrecks available and you might be lucky to find one in your colour as well..
