Hello To Eveyone

Recommended Posts

I just picked up my new Glacier White Clio RS 220 Trophy on Monday.

I come from the world of modified mini's but now taken the leap over to the renault side.

Decided to not just tip my toe in but to instead jump in head first

220 as standard drives well... but standard won't last long.

Over the next couple months turn it into something that will hopefully match my last modded R56 John Cooper Works mini.

Already at the exhaust specialist getting a custom system made & next week booked in for KW coilovers, adjustable top plates/rear caster & camber shims and a set of Enkei wheels fitted with wider michelin PSS tyres.

After Christmas booked in for much bigger upgrades.

Hopefully will be able to learn from & share with all here

Cheers

Welcome. Glad to hear someone with commitment. There are a number of people here, that have good knowledge, that you can bounce ideas off and who can provide good advice. Will be interesting to follow your journey and what differences you find between the Mini and the 220. Post pictures or it never happened.   :D

Welcome mate! Nice mods planned - interested why you didn't just go for a 200 Premium if you were going to change suspension, wheels and power anyway!

Looking forward to photos.

Welcome and some good mods planned. Just some advice about custom exhaust on the Clio in EDC , they done work too well off the bat, to get the sound right your best off going off the shelf with tried and tested exhaust rather than custom, with the Pound and aud your at better bang for buck with something from scorpion , which sound amazing and make good power.

I actually ordered the supersprint to save the hassle of a custom exhaust & had installed the first day. It sounds terrible also with too much low drone. Took it to a specialist I know and after he drove the car we decided pretty quickly to build it ourselves. He has 40 years experience building custom systems from Honda, Renault, BMW, Mercedes to Masseratti's, Ferrari & even Mclaren... and never had an unhappy customer. So I figure with a shot as he will dial the system into what I love to hear.

I picked up the 220 under 38K drive away so the deal was too good to refuse. For tuning I wanted the 220 engine to play with and yes I can get it tuned. I will provide details once completed in January.

I have a penchant for a dialled-in JCW, any pics?

unfortunately no pics of the finished mini. The hard drive dying on my iMac saw to that.

it would do 1:38 laps at Winton so dialled in it was

Out of interest who's the specialist? Are they Melbourne based?

Yes Melbourne based, but only a small family shop. Their business is more word of mouth and enthusiasts coming in after hearing & seeing the cars done by them.

I will give him a chance to first work on my system & if it is half as good as what I have so far seen from them I will post their details.
