Hello!

I've just purchased my first ever Renault!

It's a 2002 Clio Sport 172. Two owners before me with only 91,000km's. So far i've really enjoyed driving it, the little clio feels much tighter than my previous Japanese cars!

I will get a photo of the Clio soon.

Welcome. Nice to hear you are enjoying it! What State are you in? Any plans for the car?

Im in Adelaide :)

No plans so far, i bought the car to get me too and from uni police free. but maybe in a few months i might start doing a few little things too it. Its already got a BMC induction but i'm thinking of swapping that for one of the KTEC inductions.

  • 1 month later...

Just a small update.

So its been just under two months since i purchased my Clio.

I have to admit it is probably the best car i have ever owned, so much fun and so much potential!

Iv'e replaced the engine mounts with Vibra-Technics mounts and the dogbone mount with Powerflex inserts. Iv'e remapped the car using RS Tuner to the 98 RON map, and replaced the sound system. The car came with a BMC CDA intake which i have swapped out for a KTR kit... That sound is amazing.

Next on the to-do list is to get the headlights restored and replace the passenger side cv shaft as it is starting to click.

Here are some photos of the car:

Is it just the pic or are the headlights a bit dull? The rest of the car looks so shiny ... and they'll polish up nicely with a bit of elbow grease. :)

Yeah the headlights are next on the to do list! I have the a crack my self but ran out of patience haha!

["wade"]Nice work and nice car......

How do you like the solid mounts??

I'd hang onto the BMC if I was you. The Ktec one is illegal and apparently (according to Henk the tuner) will lose you power .... But they do sound porn

Absolutely love the mounts, they made the car feel so fresh! The vibration at idle is increased but not unbearable, although it is slightly unbearable when at idle with the air con running, puts the engine under load just enough to vibrate so hard!

How is the intake illegal? I was planning on keeping the BMC anyway, I don't think it would be easy to sell.

I love the sound of the ktec intake, best $16 I have ever spent!! (lucky enough to find the intake on a clio at u pull it)

Photos of the new intake? Open pod fitters are illegal in most states.

The BMC would sell easily on here too.

Nice work so far!

Thanks!

Oh really I didn't realise all of my other cars had open pod filters and I got pulled over several times I'm each car and was never questioned about the filter! I'll have to get a photo tomorrow :) what do you think the bmc would be worth? I know there like $400 new!

Another Update...

I cant believe what some people leave on there cars when they have an accident and it gets sent to u pull it or other wrecking yards. I got brand new (less the 1000km approx) condition front slotted and drilled rotors with matching brand new front pads, KTEC Super Sport full cat back exhaust and KTEC Engine and Gearbox mounts for a whopping total of $149!!!! The rotors have a slight layer of surface rust, but nothing a few kms won't wipe off!

The KTEC Super Sport exhaust is so so so good! its taken away the ugly muffler and tip hanging off the back of my car and given my car an awesome sound!

So stoked.

Unfortunately i forgot to take a photo of the exhaust before it was on the car (got too carried away and excited haha) but as you can see in the second photo compared to the photos a few posts up the page, the rear of my car looks much better!

What an awesome find. Nice!!

Looks like you've got some interesting camber on the rear left there; maybe just the camera angle.

There can't be that many RSs floating around 'help your self' wrecker yards, let alone modified ones, let alone in Adelaide! Wow, very lucky.

I know, I almost needed a change of underwear, and then I walked to the engine bay, and died. It also had KTEC coilovers but someone grabbed the before I could

Nice find saved yourself well over a grand....

Your rear camber is factory set and unless your car has rear shims you basically get what you are given

Most people have between -1 and -1.5 on the rear...... Not necessarily the same on both sides....

Thanks for that, I was scared it might have been curbed hard at some point!

Another slight update.

My car like almost 100% of other clios has had some nasty headlight deterioration form, so i got that fixed up the other night, seriously changes the whole look of the front of the car!

Unfortunately a few friends who have recently been following behind the clio have said that my car seems to be crabbing down the road, the rear of the car being pushed to the left of the front of the car. Its just had a fresh wheel alignment so hopefully i can take the car back and it will be all sorted. I can't think of anything else that would cause the car to do this seeing as i haven't smashed any curbs recently to my knowledge.

Before and after

Thanks guys,

I used wet and dray sand paper starting from 800 grit, 1000 grit, 1500 grit and 2500 grit. I spent about 5 minutes with each grit on each headlight to get all of the really rough defects out. Then i took the car to a local Adelaide car detailer Eye Candy Detailing who buffed and polished the lights. He used a rotary buffer because i just couldn't seem to buff them right up myself (maybe lack of elbow grease) but they came up a treat!
