I joined some time ago on the hunt for a Clio, and now that I got a Clio and fully registered in NSW, thought I might as well throw in a newbie post. Since six weeks old, I had been diagnosed with Haemophilia; a rare bleeding disorder that prevented my blood from proper clotting without treatment. Most of my life has been within the walls of the hospital and with many bruises and bleeds all throughout my body. There's so much that's happened during my first 14 years that its pretty much impossible to list it in this one post (You'll be able to read it all in the link at the bottom to our website). So you might think then, that I would have picked up a passion for something calm and less intense. Instead, I found the most entertaining discipline of motorsports, and I've been a fan since the age of 7/9 (Can't remember exactly oops😆). It started with the odd Wii or PS3 racing game, then eventually moving to a Logitech G27 steering wheel on Gran Turismo 5 (Btw nice to see this forum had a GT5 Nurburgring leaderboard going once upon a time 😀). I slowly learned the basics of driving every day after school, almost all self taught, from trying to skid in an AE86 to figuring out the heel-toe in a 600hp R34. By 2016, I moved over to the PC and got into more advanced racing and into a range of racing leagues on Assetto Corsa, and eventually I was actually finding myself fighting near the front of the field! This was all while at the risk of bleeds and being admitted to hospital on an average of every two weeks. The next couple years would see me working my way through high school and learning the dark art of motorsports through simracing, videos, articles and lots more, hoping one day I could work in this field as a driver and/or engineer. By 2018, I had gone onto a study trial of a drug called Hemlibra, and since then my treatment for Haemophilia had never been more effective. This is what opened the doors for me to finally enter what I loved for real. October 2018 would mark my very first taste of motorsport, when I completed Level 1 and 2 of the Riccardo’s Racers program in my first ever time driving, and setting the fastest motokhana time in (of all things) mum’s Mazda 3! An effort she luckily approved of very much, considering the great amount of knowledge and experience I got from the program. A year later, I would be completing Level 3 of the program at Luddenham Raceway, again going tremendously well, but also still in the Mazda 3. With mum considering what my next couple years could look like, it was time to address the elephant in the room (somewhat literally considering the weight 😄), hence the introduction of our own 2010 Renault Sport Clio Cup Trophee. 70,000km on the clock, equipped with the cup chassis, Recaro seats and much more. Overall I’ve really enjoyed it and I haven’t even gotten into the driver’s seat yet! Sticks to the road real nice, cup suspension keeps the car really nice and flat. Not all perfect initially as it had the pesky crack in the exhaust manifold, but now all good and welded up by Renotech. Next up to do is is strut top mounts, either down the route of OE replacement or adjustable tops. Then some point after that, pads will need changing and potentially front discs, so again an option between straight replace or upgrade. Cloth Recaros also have the signature hole in the base and the wheel has gone somewhat melty, so we'll need to find someone to fix those things too at some point. But overall I'm really enjoying this car so far! I'm learning a lot from my parents about owning, researching and managing every little bit about this car, and over time I hope it can really help me make my first steps towards independent driving and make the transition from virtual racing to reality. (This is my story that summarises my life with Haemophilia from birth until now, in much more detail than what is described in this post. It can be read here: https://www.theredtrail.org/stories/jaydens-life-before-and-after-hemlibra/)

Hey guys - new Megane RS 280 owner! Wanted to join to see what other Aussie Renault Owners get up to in terms of mods & drive days. Loving the Megane RS 280 after coming out of an Amarok for work. Owned a 2014 Polo 77tsi previously and is great being back in a quick hatch (tad faster than the Polo hey). Manual late 2018 model, got the rims painted and loving the Titanium Grey. Tempted to get an aftermarket exhaust done soon, on the cards. Anyone aware of any ECU reflashes available in Aus too? Couple of snaps this morning from a cruise up Mount Glorious. 4 wheel steer is insane. Jacob 🙌🏼

Greetings, Literally just bought this car https://www.autotrader.com.au/car/10577478/renault/megane/nsw/warwick-farm/hatchback 😁 Picking it up in 10 days or so - I have to drive from Melbourne to Sydney to do the trade-in, but it'll be worth it ! I'm an ex-Pommie and have always been a fan of the fast Frenchies. Looked at the 308 GTi, but the dash and steering wheel was all wrong for me. Jumped into a Megane 280 and felt immediately at home. Can't wait to collect the thing. Hopefully I'll post some pics in the next few weeks. Yes it's stock, yes it's grey, but IT'S MINE....MINE..... mwah ha ha ha

Came to say hey hey Bought this machine earlier this year after my previous car was written off due to a collision. After carefully considering the market options, I became hooked for a Megane III RS so I set out for one. Ended up finding this nice example in my perfect combo (Pre-facelift, Grey, Cup+) from a top notch owner in Victoria. Paid for an interstate inspection (shout out to State Roads), flew down to make the deal, and drove it up for its new life in NSW. Funny story: Since rego cannot be transferred interstate, previous owner kept the plates and I drove up some 900km with nothing but a piece of paper (UVP permit). Didn't get pulled over once by highway patrol even though many had definitely spotted me. 1km out from home, I get pulled over by local PD... Anyways I work nights so I'm mostly buzzing around the western burbs under moonlight, but look forward to hitting up cruises tacking onto the RS train... CHOO CHOO pic of the car on registration day:

Dear Members, Hello, As I write I have yet to collect my brand new 2019 Megane RS Cup Auto in white. I am very excited to be owning my first Renualt. I am very keen to learn more about this product from owners and hope to add my thoughts and feedback over time. I have owned a VW Golf GTD which I enjoyed but never a real sports hatch. It was close and the new Hyundai i30 Fastback N almost had me but, I kept coming back to the Megane after watching many reviews and taking a demo for good drive. Anyhow. Hello, and I'll see you in the Threads. Safe Roads Lloyd.

Title says it all. Knew very little about the Megane, until a good mate got a 250. Head was very quickly turned and I decided that I had to have a 265. Picked this one up a fortnight ago, and haven't regretted it for a second. Nice drive from Albury to Melbourne to properly acquaint myself with the car after buying

And just like that, I’m now a proud owner of an RS250 trophy. Went and looked at a couple, favourite colour was grey but this blue one was mechanically sound and maintained very well by the owner. Too good to pass up. Need to take some good photos ASAP, res delete and then pretty much enjoy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hi everyone It's such a joyous occasion to be reunited with this supremely exciting and wonderful marque. A long time ago, as a 19 year old I joined this forum as 'Swish' with a black Clio 182. I loved that car. It had a Miltek system, a bmc cda and focal speakers. It was so exciting. Drive days, learning and camaraderie followed. The community was so good. Alas as time passed and the daily grind set in I sold the clio to a good friend who took on my forum account for a little while until the gearbox finished and the car went the way many old loved things do only you can't remember or fathom why. Years passed along with a manual 645ci with an AC Schnitzer bodykit, 2 kids and a diesel 4wd. I sold the BMW when child number 2/2 arrived. I don't miss it one bit. But I miss the clio. I yearned to reunite with the marque I had a passion for. I had coveted a megane 3 rs for a long time but never found a car specced the way I wanted or could afford - facelift, recaros, oyster grey, low ks and well maintained. Until I found it. And literally within a day bought it. And here she is. 2014 Oyster Grey RS 265 Cup Premium. Fresh from new belts at Alpine Affaire and a new engine mount from Virage. 60k on the clock. The day I brought her home the Tom Tom stuck on 'loading map permanently after being reset You see? Day one and a little niggle. Perfect. This is love. Perfectly imperfect. Who cares, I've consigned the sd card to the sin bin until further notice so I can enjoy the rs monitor. She's bluetoothed to the phone and waiting until this Saturday to be registered. I am.so happy to be back. In touch with the team at koya works about some little enhancements but I'm so so so thrilled to get into these recaros and drive. An akrapovic system and koya works downpipe is on the wishlist. Very keen to hear from anyone who's tried 245s with the 19s and/or 20mm spacers. For now, the honeymoon has started. How can I describe it compared to the 182? It's spiritually the same, but pumped up like a supercar and the clio had a love child. At 33 I feel like I'm 18 again. Hope you enjoy.

Hi all. Thought I'd join up for all the useful info. We were searching for something like a secondhand Skoda hatch for my wife and I as a runaround. We got messed around by a dishonest seller and had a wasted 5hr round trip. I started looking at other sensible options like the VW Polo and Mazda 2/3. So logically we bought a Renault Clio RS200 Cup Trophy 🤣 Picked it up last month in Sydney. Red. 2014 model. 34,000kms. Have a 2018 vw passat wagon as a daily, so this is now my fun weekend car. I've had a Citroen DS3, Audi s3 and Golf R in my car history but this is just next level fun. Oh. Wanna know the best bit? I paid $9,500 for it.

Hi all, Been a member of this great forum for a year or so now and have just picked up my first RenaultSport, a 2012 Clio Red Bull. Have wanted one forever. Only had it enough time to drive it home from Sydney to Geelong and can't wait to take it out for a blast in the hills. What a ripper little go-kart. Cheers guys, great to be a part of the forum. Hi everyone, bought this Clio 172 off the forums here as my first car a few months back, my friends thought I was mad for buying a French car as my first, but after they saw it in person they're envious haha. I've been so busy, so have hardly had the time to properly enjoy it, but I finally got around to giving it a wash and a wax, as well as a little bit of interior cleaning.Tips for cleaning and refreshing the suede would be appreciated The condition of the car was fantastic when I bought it and it'd obviously been well taken care of. Definitely going to get some new rims for it soon; any suggestions are welcome!

Hi All, Just thought id drop a quick hello. I've just driven back from Brisbane, for my GF, a 2012 Clio RS Angel & Demon #422 (Grey). Fantastic condition and low kms. I have always thought these were such a great package of a car and when my GF said she wanted one or a Abarth, this was the winner. Would be great to go on a few drives here and there with it with everyone. My ride is a 2015 Volvo S60 Polestar in Polestar blue #1200. Quick pic of the two below. Cheers! Tim

Hi gang, I finally pulled the trigger and bought my first RS! Im absolutely head over heals for my new Clio 200 Cup. Ive always wanted one and Im glad to say its lived up to the hype! Its a Toro Red example, Gen III, 2013 with the awesome Recaro seats. Ive taken it for a spin down to the mornington penninsula, including the windy roads around Red Hill and Arthurs Seat and oh boy, it certainly is the type of car that reminds you how much fun driving is, especially with a 6sp manual. It really does defy belief the speed you can carry through corners and how much punch the 2L engine has. Now for some reality though as I need to service it (something I knew before buying) so does anyone have any recommendations for where to get it serviced around Melbourne, either through a Renault dealer or other Renault/Euro/French specialists? Cheers, and I look forward to being a part of this community!

Hi Everyone, As the title says my wife and I picked up a megane rs 280 cup to replace her 11 year old golf V R32 today. We have never owned a Renault before and the quality seems pretty good compared to the golf and bmw I have. The megane is amazing to drive the harder you drive it the better it is. It’s a big call for me but I think it may be more fun than my 1M. Renault have done an amazing job with this car and so glad we got the cup pack, the suspension is very smooth at speed and the diff just pulls the car tighter into the corner. Just wow ! It’s a very good car for the money I think and if what the reviewers say about the civic type R is true it must be some car by comparison. Still fiddling with all the settings on the megane but so far so good. In its natural habitat

Hey everyone! Test drove and put the deposit down for a new Megane RS 280 EDC in Volcanic Orange yesterday [emoji7] First Renault for me. Hopefully not jinxing myself since the financing hasn’t been approved yet. But just so keen! I’ve been a little too obsessed by this car for the last 8 months when it was released in Europe. Stalking every Video, Website and forum (including this one) for information almost daily LOL! I’ve still got a crazy wait though, the dealership has set my expectation of a February delivery date for the orange or yellow. But the colour was just too good not to wait for. Current car is a 2007 Mazda 3 MPS that I’ve done 200k in the last 9 years. Joined the equivalent Oz MPS Club early on too and loved joining in on drive days when possible. I’m not a “car guy” but I love to drive. Thanks all! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So, she’s all registered in my name, belt, water pump, dephaser, aux belt etc all sorted and four new RE003’s fitted (tyres were fine, but old). I’ve also removed the seat spacers, replaces all orange indicator bulbs and ordered a new gear knob cover. She’s running great! Engine, gearbox, clutch, suspension etc all feels really tight. You were all, of course, right about the windows. Quick touch is auto - completely opposite to every other car I have ever owned! Planning on an alignment and full suspension check over this week. Taken her for a couple of quick runs now the belts are done, but looking forward to finding the time for a proper run into the hills. She feels nice and nimble and should be a fun little beast. Two surprises thus far - the steering rack must be quite slow (you need to turn the wheel about twice as far as our 308 GTi) and the suspension is quite stiff (as expected with a cup) but there is a reasonable amount of body roll. In comparison, fast Peugeot’s I’ve owned in the past are generally quite compliant, but stay very flat around the bends. Not sure whether a rear sway bar is the way to go. Might get a bit more seat time first. Gave her a good detail today. She’s in bloody good condition for her age. Couple of pics below:

Test drove a Megane RS(Orange) this morning and I was impressed by the comfortable ride. I wasn't after a hardcore hatch like a Ford RS just after one that was comfortable but handled well if I wanted to take it for a spirited drive. I believe that the Megane RS fitted the bill. I will take delivery of the car most likely mid next week. Some people may be surprised that I coming from a BMW M140i however the ride in the RS is superior and the handling is sharper. I'll probably miss the wallop of torque in the BMW but I couldn't really stretch it's "legs".I certainly will not miss the ride quality. I'll report back next week, hopefully Telstra will fix my phone line and I can use my computer rather than trying to type on a phone............ with pudgy fingers.😀

hi all, just wanted to drop in and say hi. I've been snooping around these forums for a month or so whilst i tried to find a clio sport. I've wanted one now since released so about 18 years! Yesterday i finally put down a deposit on a silver 182 Cup. The Price was too good to pass up given the condition (albeit does have a couple of qn marks mechanically..) Bit unsure if this is the appropriate place to address my "qn marks" but it would certainly put my mind at ease if other forum members could chip in on a few things: 1.) it seems to have a drone from the rear of the car, i've read here wheel bearings are a common issue so leaning this way. Just unsure if it could be something really nasty? 2.) a small rattle from rear (i'm actually not very stressed about this so unsure why i'm even noting it!) 3.) i have seen the members here suggest only buying a car with a good service history and confirmation around items such as the timing belt... I'll be honest the logbook in this one was less than perfect and was unable to confirm when the timing belt was done. The owner is going to check with his mechanic around this. I am simply going to assume i need to get it done prior to really driving the car (i'm in no rush) as it has 178XXXkm on it. Otherwise she all looked good bar aircon that doesn't work and auto wipers that don't! can't wait! pic attached for viewing pleasure and look forward to meetings and all the contacts/resources here.

Hey everyone, Just thought I'd say G'day, been lurking here for a little while checking out the market. After being peer pressured by itsdamo (whom I work with), I picked up an LY808 from Adelaide off another forum member and drove it back home overnight. Loving it so far, it's surprisingly quick! Im usually an Evo guy, and have a 5RS Tarmac rally car, so some of these French quirks are pretty strange to me! Finding lots of good technical info on here, hope to see some of you around. Dave

Hi all, A soon to be new owner of an RS280 Sport. Black, 2018 Demo model EDC gearbox with the Bose upgrade. I was looking at most of the hot hatches, drove the RS 280 and fell in love. Such a nice car. This will be the first front wheel drive performance car I've had, and it's one hell of an upgrade from my dodgy ass JK Jeep (I'll never deal with Jeep again, long story). I pick it up later this week, until now, here is a dodgy phone pic at the dealer attached.

Cheers for the welcome guys. First real decent drive out in the hills today. Man, I love this car. Point and shoot! A lot of members had said it's a motorbike on 4 wheels, and I have to agree. Due for a tyre upgrade soon, some pretty ordinary rubber on at the moment. Cheers team, a few pics from the drive this morning...

Hi all, Hoping that it’s ok I post up in here without actually being a Renault owner (yet)! Quick background: I currently own a Honda Integra Type R (DC2) so I’m no stranger to reasonably quick FWD cars. Essentially after getting married last year and moving house, it’s time (somewhat unfortunately) that I move on to something a bit more family friendly, while hopefully retaining a fun dynamic. This is where the Megane RS enters. Up until the past year or so, Meganes and Renaults I’m generally haven’t done much for me. Not because they’re not awesome cars but because (as most of you might be aware) Renault isn’t really held in high regards in Australia until more recently. Having been to the track numerous times, it wasn’t until my cars at the time (MKV GTI and S14 200sx, both reasonably modified) struggled to get passed a Clio 172 on track...my mind was blown! Following this I purchased MY DC2R right around the same time my good friend bought a 250RS Megane. We went down the coast a few times and while I loved the Integra screaming to near-9k rpm and having a great LSD and unreal handling dynamics for a FWD (especially for the time), dropping into the seat of the 250RS enlightened me to how good Renault Sport truly is. Steering feel was phenomenal and the front diff couples with (some great tyres) and a incredible chassis left me fog smacked at how far the FWD game has come (and I was ready an advocate for fwd!). Anyway I’m spurting stuff that you’re all no doubt familiar with, but what I’m saying is that I’ll hopefully join this community within the next month. Have plenty of interest on the DC2R and while I’ll miss it’s raw nature, I think any Megane 250RS that I take ownership of will be better equipped to do the daily family duties while also delivering the thrills on track and on spirited drives. Consider me a newfound Renault fan boy. I’ll post a few pics of my current and previous cars below. More than happy to answer any questions you have surrounding ownership etc of any vehicle (feel free to reply below or private message). Watch this space as I believe very shortly I’ll be part of the Renault community. Yours sincerely, A recently converted Renault enthusiast Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
