Hi Adam and welcome
I'm guessing you're from Victoria then?
If it's not too unreasonable to travel, you could check out this in Tamworth http://www.ozrenaultsport.com/topic/30245-metallic-black-2012-megane-rs250-for-sale/&share_tid=30245&share_fid=5329&share_type=t

The one you posted has had some pretty good mods done, so it's a question of do you know who did them and do you trust them?

Some are a little odd, like the spacers despite having standard wheels. I could understand if they're aftermarket but not sure what benefit it would give given that the original setup is so good.

Also rear and centre box chop is too much IMHO. Centre yes, rear too would probably be too noisy. But, maybe it's worth trying. And the seller alleges that they do a long freeway trip in it. So it's either completely fine, or that's why they're selling!

I like the brake upgrades. Probably means it's done some track time which I don't think is an issue. It's up to you on that one

Thanks for the reply! To be honest that was the one mod I was worried about as I have no idea what it means.

Most of the mods I’d be doing myself anyway so that’s what was tempting about it. Wheel spacers possibly just for looks however wouldn’t pass rwc I don’t believe.

That car in Tamworth is a ripper buy for the price now however being in vic would be preference.

I’ll do some more research about the differences between 250 and 265 and decide which I’ll prefer.

Cheers again

Adam

Not an incredible amount of difference, of note the 250 cup has the bixenon lights which was optional, and not on the 265 cup you posted.

If you were going to do those mods just get virage or auto Paris or the other well known French specialist to check it out. And then get a Magnaflow rear muffler.

Check the belts are done too, need to have been every 4yrs or IIRC 90000km. Age is important though one of the most respected Renault mechanics here told me not to bother last year with my 2013 that had 20000km on it. I'll be doing mine this year. It's a sign, to me, how well a car has been cared for. They probably last a lot longer but I'd prefer a car that's been serviced to the book rather than not.

It's also a slightly more expensive service so it's also a bargaining tool

Thanks for reply. I'm now thinking of starting with a stock one and adding the mods i want in time.

I found this example on Gumtree. Is this an example of dealer applying wrong badge? I was under the impression only the Trophee models came with the Recaro's

Low km's too which is always appealing.

Cheers,

Adam

Hmm good question. 250 is out of my knowledge area as all my brain space was taken up by the 10 different model name and specs of the 265 line up!

Though to me it looks like it is a cup with optioned leather recaros as it has the standard lights. The trophee models have bixenon directional lights.

On the 250 Trophee, bi-xenon is an optional extra so there are trophees out there without. The car on gumtree is conflicting because it has the leather recaros which is a trophee item, but it also has the black front bumper which is a cup characteristic. According to google, the trophee version comes with "Renault Sport Recaro seats, 19-inch alloys, smart key card, tyre pressure monitor, floor mats, satin chrome door handles, electric folding mirrors and grey bumper inserts – instead of the black ones you get on the Cup, and a rear diffuser."

I'm not sure if going with the leather seats version in the cup will give you the leather recaro rather than the standard leather seats.

Edit: After more research, this is definitely a cup. The door handle gives it away.
