Renault Koleos 2017 Traffic Update and R-Link 2 update

Hi there, I recently got a Koleos 2017 with R-Link2 and found that the Traffic Update isn't running. I also found my way to the setting of R-Link2 where it shows there is no 'signal'. Just wondering if anyone has experienced same issue and actually got them fixed and can share?

I also tried to follow Renault's website steps to update things like Map on the R-Link2 and the Renault software I installed on my computer couldn't recognise the file generated by my car onto my USB key, has anyone managed to update their R-Link2 system at all?

Thanks!

I haven't had any major updates with the wife's 17 koleos but we still have signal and traffic updates and the software on my laptop recognises the cars memory card fine etc.

Which software are you using as there's 2 different ones and did you also register a login with your vin etc?

One other thing is that in Australia I think major updates Inc maps are disabled and must be done at the dealer. Highly annoying.

Thanks Treza, I used the R-Link2 Toolbox, is that the right one to use? I tried to register a login, but it wouldnt let me finish creating account without the website detecting the file/set-up from my vehicle.

Sounds right. I'd have to double check my laptop at home. Did you use a usb key or sd card to register the car details? I did ours with an sd card.

I don't know if it applies to Renault but I have heard of large capacity memory/usb cards causing issues. Also whether they're formatted as FAT32/ntfs can also cause issues.

Hi Treza, I used USB, 16GB, FAT32 formatted which the website said I need to have. It works now! Not sure what happened before, what I basically did was re-run the toolbox software again few times and finally got it to recognise the USB and produced the RLink2 serial ID which I used to register an account.

So for experiment, I did get an update and even downloaded app like calculator (didnt see any useful app at all apart from map updates that cost 150 - 350 dollars) and managed to install on the koleos.

Traffic update is still not available though and when I go to the RLink2 system info screen in the car, it still shows no signal and it didn't detect any IMEI. Did you have that issue before?

Thanks!

We've had an imei and full signal strength since we took delivery back on the first of March. Which spec do you have and what build is it (16 or 17)? We have a Jan 17 build intens.

Interesting, I have never had the imei available and signal connection since taking delivery of the car. I got it off their EOFY deal and it was a Nov 2016 build Zen. What do you think? Don't think the dealer has a clue which is unfortunate, the salesperson said yes about traffic update and map update before I bought the car, but when I went to service for other issue last week and asked same question, service manager said complete opposite that no traffic update until end of year.

Not sure. I have heard the older Clio 4s and meg 4s have some issues due to only having 2g connections which was all turned off last year. Maybe that's something.

The other is that there is the difference in specs on entertainment systems obviously with screens etc but in theory they're all r-link2 so should largely be the same.

Sorry don't know much more than that.

Treza, I have been told by Renault Australia support that Life and Zen are not supposed to have Live Traffic. So I have been misled by the dealer (whatever the reason is), but before I complain, do you mind sharing your perception of it on how accurate the Live Traffic actually is? Is it as good as say, Google Maps or Waze? If it is actually quite useless which some other brand's live traffics apparently are then I won't fuss about it.

Thanks!

It is actually pretty accurate. We've turned off most of the voice notifications as they're annoying but it highlights lots of red areas in peak hour traffic etc.

A bit like Google maps.

Seems weird that Renault Australia disabled it. As far as I can tell the interface can do it.
