Bingle Posted 26, March 2017 Report Share Posted 26, March 2017 Yeah, I felt the same when I got the text. I'm in no rush but I feel like it's a good deal I would have otherwise missed out on. Wouldn't an accident repaired car be listed in the PPSR ? I feel like singing Cat Steven's Father and Son but you wouldn't know what that is. The PPSR can show if a vehicle's been written off I think but there are plenty of things you'd want to avoid short of that, from say a slightly different coloured panel (that you only notice in the right light a couple of days after getting it home) upwards. I'll have a look online if there are any renault specialists there. I don't think a Renault specialist is essential. Any competent mechanic or preferably someone who's job includes vehicle inspections would be ok (does the NRMA still do this?) You could probably live with the odd Renault-specific problem that he doesn't pick up.
404173 Posted 26, March 2017 Report Share Posted 26, March 2017 I think its worth the time to get the car checked over. If theres no urgency to buy the car, try negotiate a day with the owner to have it looked by a specialist. Or if its possible to have a specialist mechanic come to the car, though might cost you more?

Bingle Posted 26, March 2017 Report Share Posted 26, March 2017 (edited) Will be interesting to know what tyres have been put on the car.Could inform of a dedicated enthusiast or otherwise. When buying a used car I like to check the owner as well as the car, as this can be revealing. How long have they owned it? Why are they selling it? Is the title in their name? Have they had any mechanical trouble or accidents? Most people aren't good liars. Not the sort of distrustful attitude to have in normal life but it is when buying a used car.
