    Clio 3 Rs 20

Simple solution to the Bluetooth issue, bin the factory audio! I'm a bit of an audio nut though, you can see my build thread and ipad on dash for the Clio III. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

Short answer, don't touch anything. The Clio III is highly tuned and sensitive to any modifications. Until recently I had my Clio III perfect, before I sold it to a good friend. Only modification for noise would be the Akrapovic, and K&N panel filter. Otherwise just a remap. The induction noise above 5,000 rpm is fantastic Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk It's not as urgent as a Clio II, but the control and handling are sublime in the Clio III Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  3. As much as it might hurt those owners of RB8's on the forum, I don't think they are as collectible as they might expect. Save the $ and get the 265 cup. With the exception of the recaro seats, there's little else to seperate them. Hardly worth the additional spend IMO. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  4. Take the plunge, you won't regret it. I've driven lots of fast and exotic metal, outside a Renaultsport it might only ever be a Porsche or Lotus, such is the driving experience. I'm an enthusiast who only buys a manual, so for me it would only ever be Meg III or Clio III. As for price, the sad reality with Renaultsport is they don't hold their value that well. The best buy Megane would be a low km RS250, which you could pick up close to $20k in trophy spec. This gives you $ to spend on the obligatory belts and servicing, perhaps some new tyres and a remap to 300hp with no mechanical mods required. You would even have plenty of cash to do a good audio system upgrade. I'll have build pics and details of mine shortly for reference. Otherwise, if you want the peace of mind of long warranty, the facelift generally had 5 year warranties. Either way, few look back after owning a Renaultsport. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  5. I've also wondered by the Clio 197 was quoted as 60kgs lighter. Having done a lot of ICE work on cars to reduce road noise, 60kgs is a massive difference, and the Clio 200 isn't noticeably quiter than a 197. Thicker floor plan a D metals perhaps, but that's still a huge difference. Weigh bridge it is I reckon. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  6. I'd agree, don't read too much into alleged mechanical issues with the Clio III, many owners here with no issues and some with high mileage. The Meg is not without the same number of "issues". If you're deciding between a Meg III and Clio III, have a look at my thread under Clio III. I chose to stay with my Clio III for various reasons. Those new to Renaultsport will likely gravitate towards the Meg III after initial drives. Those familiar with the brand and experience often search out a clean Clio II or Clio III for the thrill they offer. Horses for courses, as an all rounder I'd say the Meg III is better, for sheer enjoyment and thrills the NA Clio's rule. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. The car didn't push me back into the middle of the road. I hit a road post really hard and it bounced me back. I turned to look back and the post had disappeared, such was the impact. Minor scratches on the car only...hence it could only be angels. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  8. I thought the same. Checked and it seems to be on. The only time I can get it to engage is if I'm han fisted in the wet and try to get onto the power too early, in which case it just cuts the power. On the road in question, my rear end broke traction (tyres were close to used by) taking a corner at the limit of adhesion. Since changing tyres (to grippier Bridgestone RE003's mind you), and going out with coil overs I haven't experienced an oversteer moment like that again (thank goodness). Quite possible I'm also more mindful of those particular corners and the kind of speeds to safely carry without the safety of the runoff a race track provides. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  9. Not sure I agree with this. I've never had stability control intervene on my 197, even when I lost control of the car and was oversteering towards a rock wall, trees and scrub. The only thing that saved me was what must have been angels pushing back into the middle of the road... Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  10. If the price differential between a 200 and 197 is minimal, go a 200. The steering rack is 7.5% quicker, the first 3 ratios are shorter, the cup chassis firmer and flat spot less noticeable. If the 197 is much cheaper, get that, go H&R springs (or coil overs if budget permits), and remap, that will be quicker and sharper than a stock 200. Thr 197 also has a higher red line and cut out than the 200. There were 3 197's on carsales recently with extremely low kms (less than 40k), going for under $14k, they were great buys. If you're not in a rush gems like this do appear. Faults? Through my 6 years of ownership nothing major except for routine maintenance. Change belts and water pump based on age, not mileage. The gearbox can be sticky when cold, but you learn how to drive around this. Engine mounts are prone to early wear due to being too soft for given hp of the engine. Other than that, these cars are awesome. I've driven plenty of fast and exotic cars and had a number follow me on great roads, the Clio shines and makes you ask why you would spend money on exotic metal when the Clio can do what it does. There's a cult following for a reason, Renaultsport make awesome drivers cars. I seriously would need to go to a Porsche to find something I enjoy as much, and on the right road it might only be a Porsche to perhaps a Lancer Evolution or GTR that would give chase to a well driven Renaultsport. 11. Congrats on the purchase. I saw this on carsales and it was gone pretty quickly, good buy! Not much more you need to do to this, just find some good roads and enjoy it. With those mods that's a pretty devastatingly fast machine. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  12. BTW, there is a spec named "sports cup", which should mean it has the cup chassis (stiffer Springs and dampers). Only the R26 have the LSD from memory, which makes them more rare and more expensive. The Megane III's generally came standard with the cup chassis and LSD in Australia, unless it's the blue limited edition (which was the sports chassis without the LSD). 13. If everything is done, you can easily address handling with H&R's or coilovers if you want to spend a little more. Good purchase, glad it worked out for you. You next need to find some good roads to drive it on (pm me and I'll make some suggestions). Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  14. There's another on Gumtree with lower kms and local (Eden Hill), asking $10k. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  15. Don't just go on mileage, but age. Plenty of horror stories of people relying on mileage and having timing belts snap. Renaultsport are very fussy about scheduled maintenance, they're highly tuned cars. Nevertheless, Meg II cups were a great drive. Plenty of reviews and comparisons to back that up.
