    182 has arrived

Nice. Surprising that it had the stripes originally being a non Cup?
  2. The stripes can be very hard to remove - trust me on that one! Eucalyptus oil is your friend, I found wax and grease remover next to useless. PS: If the vehicle has been left outside a lot you might be left with some darker stripes on the paint....
  3. Yes, he's taking a break.
  4. Hi, welcome. It might pay to broaden your choices a bit as there were only 30 F1's made (and mechanically they're indentical to a normal 182 Cup )
  5. It used to be on Renault's Aust website, but it appears to no longer be on there?

    Newbie from SA

Welcome guys. The VIN number thing wouldn't stop anyone who was determined- it's easy to find RS VIN numbers on line via some websites eg. www.carsales.com.au

    Interstate Rego

You don't have to re register it in the owner's state AFAIK. You have a period of time ( 2 weeks in SA as an example?) to change the vehicle over to your name and pay stamp duty. IMHO you'd be best to use this time period to drive it back to NSW and pay stamp duty etc there. It will probably save you a lot of headaches! Then send the plates back to QLD and they should refund the unused rego.
  8. Here's something every 182 owner should invest in (as a minimum) to "compensate" for no spare: http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online ... 48#details On special today and tomorrow. Comes with a reasonably good material carry bag and weighs around 1-2kg. At least after using the cans of goo you can then get some pressure into the tyre.
  9. My tow hook was stashed inside the jack tool kit when I got mine. A previous owner has probably taken the lot out at some stage and then sold the vehicle without it.
  10. 172 and 182 jacks are different, but the 172 jack might work OK. The difference is in the top part of the jack where it supports the sill.
  11. So you're new at MNR? I was wondering if you were the gentleman I was talking to back in May when I was drooling over the black RS 200 Cup.
  12. Welcome. You've probably seen a few of us Adelaide owners in at MNR.

    Eyeing the Clio

$1500 Don't think I'd be going to a dealer.. My dad is fairly handy with cars so he could help with most of the minor maintenance tasks like oil changes, filters, fluids etc. Since the two belt change intervals are so close, would it be more worthwhile to do them both at the same time around every 3 years? And if you buy the parts yourself from overseas is it cheaper? Cheers, Aaron There's only one problem - the RSC is not the sort of vehicle you'd want to take to just anyone for a timing belt change. There are special tools needed to do the job. It certainly isn't a DIY job- I've changed timing belts on Daihatsus and Hyundais but wouldn't even contemplate doing an RSC. My price above was buying parts from Wolf and getting the dealer to do the labour. (So timing belt kit, accessory belt kit, water pump + labour.)

Welcome Azz. The biggest killer for servicing costs is replacing the Auxillary belt (3yr interval) and the timing belt (4yr interval). Each is a front bumper off job and very expensive for parts - for the 4yr interval timing belt count on over $1500 through a dealer (and that's not including the other normal servicing bits that will need doing eg. oil, filter etc.) Apart from that parts and servicing will be line ball with most Jap vehicles - possibly even cheaper. Genuine air and oil filters are cheap and labour costs seem to be about the same.
