  1. G'day Dan , lovely to hear from you again And good to see you've divorced yourself from all that czchekoslovakian sensible crap and immersed you totally in wonderful insane Gallic humor Talking about divorce ....I'm in the middle of it atmo, which is the only thing stopping me from a 265 (they guarantee they've got the clutch right but they still won't warrantee the clutch !!) There again , if I lease it , it's not an" asset " she can grab half of is it ???? Hmmmmmm ......... Pete
  2. Well done Mofo.......it looks great Terrific that both you and Mum are true believers I'm looking at that 0% interest rate Renault are offering...bloody tempting Cheers Pete
  3. Sorry Griff................ I'm just too impatient in my declining years, I hasten to do real estate stuff immediately and forget that volunteering staff can't possibly do the same Please accept my most humble apologies And ........THANK YOU !!!! Warm Regards Pete
  4. Hi Lovely Guys I'm just a bit concerned that about 4 hours have gone by without my for sale post being moderated and up there. I'm getting calls galore from www.carsales.com.au and gumtree but our members still don't know about it, and at $5995, that's where I'd prefer it to go Is there a problem.?...if so please text me on 0413 133233 Warm Regards Pete
  5. Sure Dan , good luck with it, you as ever techno head guru, just don't let her see this site or your bank statements Steve, your'e talking about the orange Clio are you?............ yes it was a AAA, and I never care what they sound like outside, long as they come up with the right numbers on the dyno and the track. I do like to hear what the motor is doing inside the car though, prob getting deaf in my geri years The 26 is pretty quiet with the AAA 3" system, but you can certainly hear it inside the car cheers pete
  6. Dan, re tyres check with Darryl , Tyrepower 83702195 re exhaust, ph AAA on 83527444 re Konis, yes, fully adjustable from above the car,........... results in whatever ride u want.............harsh springs eg eibachs, kings etc simply stiffen to the point of a. less enjoyment on our roads b, no quicker times on the track............ been there , done that,.........konis are all you need cheers pete
  7. Dan, from what you've said and from my experience,...best bang for buck is, in order of preference RS Tuner Yellow Konis AAA exhaust, Richmond Khumo KU36's Whiteline rear swaybar Green Cotton or some other inexpensive intake improvement Waste of time and money for you are.... Eibach springs Camber bolts Any Expensive.......... suspensions, coil overs, exhaust systems, intake systems and tyres If you decide to go track, add DS2500's with race fluid and used 15x7 track wheels happy days, pete
  8. Dan, who's got our old black 172 now ? Christ , that was a fast car, and a prize with your new motor too Glad you've better luck with your current beauty cheers pete

    A new r26 owner

Welcome Harry, that's a hell of a car, hope to see your tail lights on the track some day cheers pete
  10. Thanks I still need to know what the rex needs done to be competitive. I'm a buyer thanks pete
  11. Thanks David Haunted Hills, ....I'm looking forward to that,.....faint chance this year, strong chance next Post up some info and pics of the rex, and importantly ,price ,and what needs doing to it to have it competitive my son may, may, be interested, and there's a few hillclimbers on this forum, and don't forget my105 ads my recent experiences tell me that, with your background, there's no way you will be content with a gti as against a 197,.......the gti has many pluses, but for a demanding all round performance driver, you won't be content with anything less than a 197 style chassis If you can afford it , I'd try to pick up a demo 197 R27,............... these are fabulous with the Cup chassis and brakes, seats etc, but , at $45K driveaway, Renault have missed the mark by slightly overpricing them in this market, and they're sticking in the showrooms,.....by time you've sold your rex, you should be able to muscle someone down to $36K or thereabouts for a demo,..........and like me, I see you're very wary of depreciation,... these things will be very rare and sought after in 2/3 years time, and being an upmarket sport model will hold their price best of all BTW, their economy is simply brilliant, not like my R26, but I'm not complaining And don't be put off if you're offered an ex-press car(not hard to establish, even if they don't tell you ,if you trace the VIN back through a dealer's computer, and check the feathered tyres,.......two of my near new RS's have been ex press incl the current R26 , and they always go harder than the rest Good luck, pete
  12. David, Hi , and welcome to a great group of people with terrific cars A lot's been said , so I'll be brief I'm 69, and never drove a french car till I was 65 Saw a Clio 172 at a hillclimb, and couldn't believe it was standard ,so I bought one and won the Australian Hillclimb Championship 2 litre class in 2005. Since ,owned two 182 Cups,(needed a change of color).Never lost a supersprint in a Clio ever. Lost only 2 hillclimbs. Never lost more than 12.5% per year in depreciation. Now got an R26 One of my best racing mates and I have recently both bought cars, I bought the R26 after hard testing a gti, he bought the gti without testing a 197 or R26. He now bitterly regrets buying the gti..........power's good, but handling and brakes are nowhere near as sharp. Renault reliability and fault freedom is amazing t/out all cars. No rattles or squeaks even is my experience Phillip Island......I've just sold a redhot Gemini Coupe which did the Island in a flat 2.00 mins, and I used to race the Gemini and the 182 together on the same days .Their times hillclimbs and sprints were almost identical, so I'm sure I could get around the Island in 2.00 flat in a 182, the 197 should be fractionally better I was recently in Perth and Brisbane shopping for a new 197 before I bought the R26. I got the Brisbane bloke down to $31,500 drive away, and the Perth Bloke down to $31,000 drive away, so there are deals to be had if you tough it out for cash So, just put a smile on your face and buy a RenaultSport ! cheers pete
  13. Thanks Mateka hope to see you at one of our get togethers soon, I'm giving the 26 a run at the Hill, Collingrove June 14, just with the standard tyres and rims, but I'll have a zorst by then. I'm planning on taking it pretty warily to feel it out, as I've never driven a turbo before, and in fact never drove a fwd until 4 yrs ago, but...........if it feels good, the usual redline fever will probably take over and I'll go nuts again Thanks Chris,,,,,,,,,,mate, think very carefully before you get into a 26, and drive a few as much as you can before you get out of the Clio I'm not enjoying the 26 around town anywhere near as much as the Clio,...........you just can't use the thing within the speed limits,......most of it's appeal is at high speed,.....I enjoy the extra sophistication, but frankly, around town ,I'd be happier in a Clio or an edited VZSS auto well set up with all it's low down grunt I managed to test drive two 26's , but most of it was in the country , and fast winding hills roads, which was great, but most of my driving is in the city Unless it blows me away in a Hillclimb or Supersprint, I think I'll be selling it in 12 months, and going back to a lowkms clio or a new Swift GTHO or a Twingo GTSS or a FiestaSSSS or something,....a Polo VXSSGT sounds nice, anything gokartish with about 230hp+ is pretty much me I think,........I reckon R27's will be down in the mid $20K's in a year, they're just a Clio with a pretty face, and won't bring much more than a stock 197, so fitting one up with a $5000 Quaife might be the go, or, maybe in a year or so Renault might release a REAL track Clio here cheers pete
  14. That's all right for you landed bloody gentry , us working class have to do just that, not playing merry go rounds in the working week cheers pete
